@Renetrox Although it says the Direct rendering: yes, the driver used the SW renderer (llvmpipe), so I suspect there's no GPU acceleration available. AFAIK, for the Mali GPU included, the panfrost Mesa driver should be used.

EDIT: However, that's the glx extension for Xorg, what does es2_info says ?

@mitu don't get me wrong my dear fellow, I know that emulators are present and can be installed in certain cases. The Libretro emulators for n64 do not work on the orangepi 3lts, which is the previous board I mentioned I have with retropie working. Openbor is not installable and Drastic is exclusive for Rpi, therefore, in my case, if something I didn't achieve with retropie it was that, and I also tried batocera and all those emulators were working, I don't know why.

I wasn't referring to support for Orange PI 3b, since this is non-existent in RetroPie, but to the availability of emulators/ports. When a certain SBC has support in RetroPie, the packages are configured/changed in order to support that platform - so there's no comparison term here since the OPI 3b hasn't been either supported nor tested so far.

@mitu I managed to install retropie by changing the distro to armbian!! It's going very well, on n64 only glide64 works, with small screen, the rest, no problem so far

That's great ! I assume Armbian has the accelerated GPU drivers installed ?
Since we recently added some Armbian support, can you tell me if you're able to install any of the drivers included with RetroPie (like xpad or xpadneo) ?

@mitu I think everything was installed as is on an rpi or PC, I just hit basic install and it ran everything without error. I haven't installed psp or flycast yet, I'll try desmume too. What I don't know how to install is openbor, any suggestions to try?

Just found this post for the Orange PI 3 so Retropie does work on it.. https://www.instructables.com/How-to-Install-RetropieEmulationstation-on-OrangeP/

I am at the moment tying to get Emulation Station working on a THEA500 Mini, (it has a H6 on it PCB so is like the Orange PI 3 but it keeps crashing when I run it, its kernal it uses is..
                      Kernel: Linux version 3.10.65 (chris@puck) (gcc version 4.9.3 20150113 (prerelease) (Linaro GCC 4.9-2015.01-3) ) #32 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 12 10:48:03 GMT 2021 64-bit aarch64
it uses Buildroot as its Linux and has 512 mb ram.
                      and its a sun501i arm64.
It a shame the Orange PI 3 is not supported, it does not have a lot of support for things like this, like Retroarch and that, it should.

@spannernick1 Dude, retropie works without doing all that... only install with the script for debian and derivatives
