    Hello all,
    I am using a Pi Model 3B to run RetroPie 4.0.3 that was first installed onto a micro SD card, but using this tutorial
    https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive
    I am loading my roms from a flash drive. Where I believe the issue lies, almost as if it does not have permissions of some kind.

    The issue I am having is loading a custom splash screen. When the PI first boots there is a quick message at the bottom of the screen that says "home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/custom.png loading FAILED"
    Then, the next screen says

    map: vt02 => fb0
    open /home/pi/RetroPie/splashscreens/custom.png No such file or directory

    Also, I am not sure if they are related or not, but once I get this error message and I select and option from the RetroPie "System" (Such as Show IP) It dumps me to the log in screen (Like I pressed F4) and I need to log in and relaunch emulationstation, then I can launch items in the RetroPie "System" with no issues.

    Thanks in advance!
    PS Sorry, but I am very new to this.

      put your custom splashscreen somewhere else and adjust /etc/splashscreens.list accordingly, or mount your usb drive over /home/pi/RetroPie/roms so that the splashscreen folder is on the sdcard. Or unmount the usb and make sure the splashscreen is there on the sd card in that folder before the USB gets mounted on top later (the problem is the splashscreen is displayed before your USB drive is mounted)
