[Solved] Skyscraper doesnt fetch screenshots from thegamesdb
-
Hello.
I was trying to scrape Sonic Superstars for the switch from thegamesdb and it seems like they do have some data including some screenshots for the game. However Skyscraper seems to grab only the cover and not the screenshot resulting in a combined screenshot with only the cover and grey background. Here is the link to the website containing the screenshots.
This bug exists even on Skyscraper 3.7.7.

Do you have tha same results if you use the screenscrapper ?

Hi.
No, screenscraper works fine after the id fix from the other thread but in this case, it doesnt have data for the specific game so I used another provider.

Found the culprit. Some platforms have screenshots stored below the path
screenshot/
and notscreenshots/
(note the s). This never was an issue as the platforms were 'baked in' into Skyscraper, where the plural path was sufficient for all supported platforms. With the configurable platforms, however one may hit such platform (eg. switch) which usesscreenshot/
as folder on the server side.Edit: Correction is out in 3.9.1

On the topic of Screenscraper, I don’t suppose anyone knows what settings or XML changes are needed to get the thumbnail for the game to show a ‘gameplay’ screenshot instead of a ‘menu screenshot’?
Just scraped some PS1 games but for the main images the screenshots are from the game menu screens/title screens as a pose to gameplay?
Just some extra info for this. It doesn’t appear to be all games, some have gameplay screenshots as you’d expect, but games such as Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bash, Alien Trilogy, Ape Escape, Colin McRae Rally 2.0 (although not 1), Gran Turismo 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid… don’t however

@stephensmattlee pls open a new topic on this and provide in minimum the Skyscraper version and the scraper (
-s ...
) used. TIA. -
Thanks that you deployed a fix for this too 😃. I havent tested the fix but I will also mark this thread as solved 😊
