NeoGeo CD - Romset is unknown. Help?
-
I am trying to get my NeoGeo CD roms to work on retropie on a Raspberry Pi 4. I have put the bios files in the "BIOS" directory on my roms disk. I have also put the neogeocd roms in the neogeo roms folder.
When I try to load the rom on my Raspberry Pi 4, I get the following message:
Romset is unknown. THIS IS NOT A BUG ! If you don't understand what this message means, then you need to read the arcade and FBNeo documentation at [https://docs.libretro.com](https://docs.libretro.com).
I went to the link it sugested and didn't find any relevant info. Could someone please explain a step by step instruction to get Neogeo CD roms working on retropie?
Thanks.

Try to launch the game with verbose logging enable and add here the
runncommand.log
file with the help of pastebin.com .How to launch the game with verbose logging : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/#launch-with-verbose-logging

https://docs.libretro.com/library/fbneo/#how-do-i-launch-a-neogeo-cd-game. RetroPie already configures the 'subsystem' for FBNeo, you just need to copy the correct
.cue
/.bin
files to theneogeo
folder, then - when launching the game - use the runcommand menu to choose thelr-fbneo-neocd
emulator. -

There are relevant infos though : https://docs.libretro.com/library/fbneo/#how-do-i-launch-a-neogeo-cd-game
Long story short, you tried launching a neogeo cd game as if it was an arcade romset.
As @mitu said, retropie'slr-fbneo-neocd
is a shortcut for running FBNeo with the--subsystem neocd
argument, which is one of the 3 methods to launch neogeo cd games with FBNeo. -

Where can I find the
runncommand.log
file? What is the file location of this?
-
@barbudreadmon I thought this might be a bios issue but you are telling me its not. Cool. Does NeoGeo CD Even need a bios? If so where do I put it and what is the name of the bios file?

I forgot to mention, My Neo Geo CD Roms are in .chd format. Could that be an issue?
-
@Danrancan Yes,
lr-fbneo-neocd
doesn't support.chd
files. The path for the log file is this :
/dev/shm/runcommand.log
You can install
lr-neocd
from experimental packages that support chd files. To use this emulator you have to do 2 steps :-
Create a folder named
neocd
in your BIOS folder and add there the bios files : neocd.zip , neocdz.zip . -
Install lr-neocd emulator from experimental packages.
Don't forget to choose the emulator from the runcommand menu.
