I recently installed RetroPie on a Pi400 and it seems to be running well. I have added the Vice emulator as I plan to run C64 games. I have also made a copy of the C64 Vice emulator configuration and amended it with parameters for the PET. I also created a new directory in roms for Commodore PET programs/games. The emulator loads up fine and runs the PET games in the roms/pet directory, however, I can't figure out how to configure the keyboard mapping? There is an option to select the type of PET keyboard type, but there seems to be no option to configure key mapping for a standard PC keyboard. As a consequence there are some weird key problems, for example Space is on key '7' and the number keys don't work. The controller works, but in RetroPie only, not in Vice, although after a lot of fiddling it works Ok in the C64 emulator mode. Possibly its because the PET did not usually have a mouse or controller, which makes it all the more important to get the keyboard mapped properly. Any help with how I might go about this would be appreciated.

You can see in the Vice doc pages how the PET keyboard is mapped by default to a 'modern' US/DE keyboard.
I think it's possible to create your own keymap file (.vkm) - see here for a start.

@mitu Thank you for that link. I had been looking for that information in the User Manual but couldn't see it. The closely packed layout and font do not help. I will have a look for .vkm files. My system seems to be using the Business (UK) keyboard layout, but there should not be much difference to the US one.
