Dvd roms on PS2 emulator?
-
Hello! I installed Retropie a couple of months ago, and I recently tried Daphne. It was VERY complicated, so I stopped for now.
The problem? I REALLY want to play Dragons Lair. I heard that there's a "Dragon’s Lair 20th Anniversary Special Edition” Dvd, and that dvd's worked on PS2, so I was wondering: could I put the DVD rom for Dragon’s Lair in a PS2 emulator on retropie and make it work? I'm using a Raspberry pi 4 and have a MacBook for the rom downloading. PLEASE HELP. -
A Pi4 cannot emulate a PS2 system and the also the PS2 emulator included in RetroPie is only enabled for PC platforms - hence it's not installable on a Pi4.
If configuring Daphne/Hypseus for RetroPie is too difficult, why don't you run the PS2 game on your MacBook, using the PCSX2 emulator ? -
That's a good idea, but I also heard that you can put the DVD "Dragon’s Lair 20th Anniversary Special Edition” rom in Daphne some how?
Are there any other ways to play Dragon's Lair on Raspberry Pi 4? -
Also, if you're mistaken, I have downloaded Daphne onto the system, it's just adding the roms that is difficult because of all the special "Dl21.txt" files and stuff. If you have a way to circumvent this issue, please tell!

using the PCSX2 emulator ?
I just tried installing the PCSX2 application, and it gave me an .xz file. Inside (using Winzip) I found a .tar file. INSIDE THAT I found the application, but when I tried to open it a message appeared: "THE APPLICATION COULD NOT BE OPENED." Why is that?
And before you think I'm under educated on Retropie and classic game emulation, and that I'm bombarding you with questions, I just really like vintage animated cartoons, and so I want to play Dragons Lair.

AFAIK - The 20th Anniversary DigitalLeisureDVD is (legaly) needed to let Daphne (upstream/x86_64; unsure for arm forks) auto-download the videofiles for Daphne to play Dragon's Lair I/II + Space Ace. Daphne does not play the DVD, it is just a measure to verify that you have the rights to play it on Daphne.
The AnniversaryDVD-DVD itself is meant to be played on standalone DVDPlayers via their RC (that is why they mention it as PS2 compatible (I never had one, so I assume that a PS2 will be able to work as a DVD Player (as some other consoles also do))). If you have a CRT, current M.A.M.E. could be an option to play DL with the correct rom and chd files -> though, on non CRTs a way to deinterlace the video is needed and I have found no solution for this so far. And for Windows Machines, Dragon's Lair Trilogy (available on Steam/GoG/?) could be an easy approach to play it in nowadays times.Edit: I've just noticed your (3rd.) Post in Ideas & Development -> Please don't consider this now as me being aggressive or harsh on you, but in the 1980/'90s (good old Mailbox/BBS times), whenever someone came up with a question, the general answer was RTFM before asking! Instead of posting here thrice, just the same time spend on research and reading could have eventually solved your problems/missunderstandings and if not provided you with the terms/semantics to ask for specific (instead of general) help (IMHO). RetroGaming, and in particular on a raspberry, is a hobby and that means to invest time and learn stuff. Most of the time the things you want are either not developed any further since eons, or are just in early dev for ages and you really should become familiar with *nix/posix systems -> just a personal advise.
AT Admins, sorry -> I really couldn't keep myself down on this (AT mitu, I really adore your ability to keep calm and stay low/calm!)
