Upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS - HELP..Nothing works anymore :(
-
I have, apparently, completed all process to be update my Intel NUC to current UBUNTU 24.04.1 LTS.
All procedure it's correct and i can reach desktop and various app....... but there's an issue whit current Retropie Setup.
EmulationStation working whitout apparently issue........ but when i try to open a games it's not works and after some seconds ES brick back on screen.I'm going to SEE the runcommand.log... now i'm on another PC this is a sample example whit a random game:
Parameters: Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-genesis-plus-gx/genesis_plus_gx_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/gamegear/retroarch.cfg "/home/diabolik/RetroPie/roms/gamegear/P/Poker Face Paul's Solitaire (USA).zip" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch: error while loading shared libraries: libavcodec.so.58: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
It says that a system dependency is missing and that retroarch will not start. do i need to reinstall retropie from the retropie setup script?
Or simply need to reinstall only retroarch ?thanks in advance for quick replies if there will be any....

You need to re-install (recompile) all installed packages, regardless of whether they have an update or not.

Oh interesting.... also need to re-compile all core ? When there are updates every core everything is recompiled.
can I also wait for updates to be released?
If this is not the case, how can I force the recompilation of all the core (and problably also the main package like emulationstation and retroarch) installed with/on the previous system version ?
EDIT
For example.. core like lr-mame2003plus and the lr-fbneo or also the mupen They have almost daily updates and commits. so let's say that every check these are almost always recompiled.. every time :)
My actual Intel NUC I usually complete the procedure in 10/15 minutes.Or I don't know. Do I have to manually delete the sources that are downloaded into the retropie-setup folder?

Apparently i have reinstall all package manually from section "core" (retroarch, emulationstation, retropiemenu, runcommand and latest joy2key).
Apparently retroarch and emulationstation it's recompiled from source........When all procedure it's completed all games back to works........
If i found some core present a similar issue......... if not update it's ready i go to reinstall/recompile manually from source and see if back to works.
I have just found the issue whit Retropie_setup script and joy2key apparently not works if i launch it from emulationstation..... but i have already reply on other thread about this specific issue.
