Is RetroPie for Pi5 in any workable state yet or is it still being worked on
-
Have been away for a bit. Just wondering if RetroPie for Raspberry Pi 5 is ready to download yet?
-
@hawkes_84 Is not ready yet. Manual installation is the only way for now.
-
@hawkes_84 Official image still not available.
But there are unofficial IMGs available if you search these forums for Doom the way Pi Did and Unofficial RPi5 RetroPie image. -
As stated above, not officially yet, just unofficial builds or manual install... but that being said I have about 60 consoles up and running and they all seem to play really well. And that includes all the standard 8-bit and 16-bit as well as consoles like Dreamcast, PSP, Saturn, PS2, and Gamecube.
So there is a lot that works and works well!

Appreciate the feedback. Figured as much. Have been using an unofficial build for a while - pretty much since I bought the pi5. Couldn't have it just sitting there waiting for Retropie to be finished. It's actually very good. Is PS2 really looking good or is it just the basic puzzle games? -
@hawkes_84 I've gotten quite a lot of games to run with AetherSX2 but the emulator does require a lot of tweaking per game. But I'd say I've probably gotten about 85% of the games I've tried running 90% to 100% full speed.

@TPR any of the Silent Hills?

@TPR any of the Silent Hills?
Yes, the follwing:
Silent Hill : Shattered Memories
Silent Hill 2
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4 : The Room
Silent Hill OriginsSome of them required software renderer, some of them worked with Vulkan. But all of them required emulator core tweaks. For example, on Shattered Memories I have:
Mipmapping: Off - Trilinear: Off - CPU Framebuffer Off - Depth Support Off - Frame Latency: 3Some of them worked with the EE Rate of 100, others needed the EE Skip set between Normal and Max.
Just be patient with each game and try different things. Results most certainly vary but they have been very positive.
-
@TPR the custom build I'm using doesn't have a ps2 option on there and I'm not smart enough you add one. Ah well

AetherSX2 is in under emulators makes for a easy install

@ExarKunIv this particular build is using Batocera. Is it still as easy?

They mean they're using Batocera and not RetroPie :).
-
@ExarKunIv like @mitu said I'm using batocera. It has a specific set up different to Retropie. You can't just go to a list of emulators and click download. Obviously I'd rather be using a clean RetroPie build but needs must while it's still in development

yes, i know. i use it on a few different boards i have.
if you give the 2 images that @RapidEdwin08 said a try you can get PS2 working.
until the official image is ready.i use the Unofficial RPi5 RetroPie image. and it works really well. and you just need to run the update script to get the latest fixes
if you want to see how well it works -
@ExarKunIv thanks. Will look into these unofficial ones you mentioned
