Pi Model or other hardware: Pi 5
Power Supply used: 150w Dual PD USB Anker Charger
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8.6
Built From: RetroPie-Setup GitHub project, file: retropie_setup.sh script on top of Raspbian official full x64 img
USB Devices connected: USB 8BitDo SN30 Pro
Controller used: USB 8BitDo SN30 Pro
      Error messages received: None
      Verbose log: None
      Guide used: None
      Emulator: aesthersx2

I finally nailed my config down for my project and everything works, I am using an adafruit speaker bonnet through I2C. The sound works perfectly in RetroPie and every other emulator. I installed the vulcan drivers and using the git hub repo for retro pie extras installed aethersx2. The emulator works perfectly otherwise graphics wise, I just have no audio. I tried going through the settings or checking the retropie config. Is there a setting that I am missing to tell it to use the default system audio?

I have read about a similar issue in the forum, and the solution was to install the pulseaudio driver.
Before you try, back up your setup!

        sudo apt install pulseaudio pulseaudio-utils
