RPI 5 Install Failed
-
Hey I was trying to install the RetroPi on my Rasberry Pi 5
From my googling I got told that I should use this guide:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Debian/I followed the instructions, opened up the installation script with sudo and then did a basic install
However I saw a lot of errors going on during the indtall and it ended up lookingThen the installation finished
Could not successfully build lr-mupen64plus - N64 emu - Mupen64PLus + GLideN64 for libretro (/home/precise/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/lr-mupen64plus/mupen64p lus_ Libretro. so not found)
I got that messagw, not sure if more failed, it said it stored a log which also was corrupted so I couldn’t read it.
Hence I am here now, anyone know what this is all about?

It's not corrupted, it's probably compressed if it ends in
.gz
. Unpack it withgunzip
and you can take a look at it.Hence I am here now, anyone know what this is all about?
Pi5 support is still not finished so some things may not work. Regardless,
lr-mupen64plus
is an old version which is superceeded bylr-mupen64plus-next
so you can use the latter for N64 games.EDIT: also the
lr-mupen64plus
is not available for 64bit OSes - are you using the 64bit RaspiOS to install on Pi5 ? If not, I'd recommend you do so since this is the OS recommended for the Pi5. -
Yes I am on 64bit, I will try lr-mupen64plus-next then!
Thank you! -

Yes I am on 64bit,
Are you sure ? I don't see how
lr-mupen64plus
would be installable if you didn't select a 32bit OS. Note that on a Pi5 the kernel is always 64 bit while the userspace can still be 32bit, in which case your OS is recognized as 32bit. -
Hey sorry for the long delay, yes it is 64bit
I didn’t have time to look at it for a long time and got back to it, a reboot later and reinstall of retropie yealed me no errors and seem like it installed fine
So no idea why it threw a fit the first time, anyway I love it! Very happy I came across RetroPi!
