lr-flycast boots to main Dreamcast menu when loading a game in RetroPie (using Raspberry Pi 5 8GB)
-
Hi everyone! I've been having some trouble trying to boot Dreamcast games on this system with lr-flycast. For context I've tried using ReDream before lr-flycast but the input lag was terrible (I've already fixed it for other systems like the n64 via RetroArch settings) and it was impossible to use save states without connecting a keyboard, which I didn't want to use in a living room setup.
Back on topic, I've already tried clearing all the BIOS files except for dc_boot.bin and dc_flash.bin, disabling "Boot to BIOS" and HLE BIOS in the RetroArch quick menu (though those were off by default), ensuring that the games were in .chd format, and deleting/reinstalling lr-flycast. When the game boots to the Dreamcast menu, selecting the "play" option just shows some text stating that a disc hasn't been inserted.
I'm not really sure what to do from here. The same thing seems to happen with reicast as well to make matters worse. If anyone can help with this that would be greatly appreciated!
Here's the log output in /dev/shm after running Sonic Adventure on fresh BIOS files with verbose: https://pastebin.com/2P5FFaq2

Does this happen for every Dreamcast game ? Can you disable runahead and see if anything changes ?
-
@mitu Yes it appears to occur for every Dreamcast game, and disabling runahead via the RetroArch menu > settings > latency > "Run-Ahead to Reduce Latency" hasn't done anything yet.

The log doesn't have any actual errors so there's no hint there. Not sure where the issue may be, I can't reproduce the issue locally with
lr-flycast
on a Pi4. Assuming this may be a configuration issue I suggest you test withlr-flycast-dev
, since it's the latest Flycast code- resetting all core options to default by removing any
flycast

@mitu That worked thank you!
