Error screen help

It's most likely the card. If your other card is working fine and the new one is just a clone of the old one (so they have the same settings) , then it's most likely the new card is failing.

@mitu that's 3 x sandisk 512gb cards that failed... all ordered from amazon... i dunno man

@stevejp1978 there are some sdcard testing utilities, created in order to spot fake capacity units, you may want to run a test with one of the cards.
Another possibility would be an over-aggressive overclocking - but since the other card you have still works and has the same config, I've ruled that out. -

How to replicate the problem:
-started with script update, system was sluggish upon first boot, critical error when forced to hard reset after updating retropie script
-another time (different card) error happened when transfering roms stopped abbruptly, after reboot received error screen.
-Currently sucessful transfering roms on my third card, I have not updated the retropie script. -
Hard resetting the Pi may lead to filesystem corruption, which would produce a similar error like the one in the pictures. Since the joystick issue should be solved now, try to do the update and don't reset the Pi during the update.

@mitu must be the sd card... i can only transfer so many gigs until everything goes to shit.... the transfer just stops and on the next reboot usually i get a blank screen or the error screen that i posted. This is consistant with all 3 x 512gb sd cards. weird man. guess i'll just be happy with 200gb.... however i am able to use my controller again in the setup menu, so thanks for sorting that!

@stevejp1978 If you try to copy more than 200 Gb on the system where you've run h2testw, does it work or it stops there too ?

@mitu stops there too, I got 80+gigs of DC games, tried transfering the whole batch, failed 20-30gis in and couldn't transfer anything else. Upon reboot I usually get a black screen or a scan which leads to kernnal error. I've also tried not expanding the file system (just leaving the 183g image on the 500g card) and got the same result.

@stevejp1978 you may also check your cards with
f3[1].As you write you use a 12V 7.5A supply: Make sure it delivers constantly (ie. even under high load) over 4.65V (5.25V max) to the Pi as SD cards are picky on undervoltage [2].
Here are some test results from 512GB cards [3], maybe you find additional pointers specific to your make and model of SD card.

@Lolonois thanks, not sure how to ensure it delivers a constant voltage while writing... however I'm not planning to waste any more time on this matter.
The cards in question is a sandisk 512gb ordered from amazon that i had for years and worked fine in my switch. I got the write error in my arcade and i thought the card was done, so i ordered a new one form Amazon. That card didn't work either... Amazon was good enough to send a second card for free and that one also failed.
Who knows, maybe a voltage issue makes sense, but there's no indication of undervoltage on the machine itself.
