Retropie 4.8.9 and Linaaple
-
Hello,
After updating my Pi 3, I started to make a new image for my new Pi 5 :)
I sorted some troubles with Retropie 4.8.9 image that someone put on Google Drive (at this forum), but there is one that I couldnt find yet a solution, with Linapple I got a small screen portion when run it, tried with F6 for fullscreen, but doesnt work, any ideas?
Thanks!

@pindapoe I have no solution for Linapple on recent hardware, but you may try lr-applewin, the RetroArch core, unless you want to stick to Linapple for reasons.
It is part of the RetroPie-Extra repository: https://github.com/Exarkuniv/RetroPie-Extra

@Lolonois Thanks for the help, already tried and got this error with lr-applewin: amixer: Unable to find simple control 'PCM',0
-
@pindapoe I'll have to try it again. It did work earlier this year when I tested that batch
-
@ExarKunIv "It" refers to Linapple or lr-applewin?
For lr-applewin I had to add more duct tape for Buster but for recent distros I could remove some duct tape.
Anyway, in both cases lr-applewin uses now main/HEAD from the upstream Applewin repo. Will provide a PR soon.

@Lolonois said in Retropie 4.8.9 and Linaaple:
lr-applewin
This. Since the OP said they are upgrading from to the pi5 and they di try it but it failed with that error.
I already did a test on lr-applewin back in Jan and I got it to work for me. I might of edited the code to add something or get the correct version. No sure which.
So I will have to test again. I know things are in flux with the OS and RetroPie not official support of pi5

I just filed a PR, but it is unrelated to the OP topic.
I had success with lr-applewin (even without the PR) with an out-of-the-box RaspiOS Lite config.txt, i.e.
dtparam=audio=on
@pindapoe what yields
apt list --installed | grep ^alsa
? I havealsa-utils
installed. In turn this query should give no hits:apt list --installed | grep ^pulseaudio
-
@Lolonois Tried apt list --installed | grep ^alsa but gave me a "command not found" error
I had to configure Audio Device to that way to make it work in Pi 5, maybe that is the problem with linapple?
