Running RetroPie on Pi5 64-bit (full) and RetroArch/EmulationStation/MAME for my arcade frontend.

Pac-Man is not showing in my arcade list. Just tell me where I can go (without the obnoxious comebacks please!) … I’m just not sure where to seek help. And yes, I’ve posted this on the LibRetro forum also - but I didn’t see much about EmulationStation on there either.

I have pacman.zip in my ES/gameslist.xml and in the roms. It’s marked as “<favorite>true</favorite>” … It’s simply not showing in either my arcade list (so many clones - maybe hiding?) or the favorites.

I have no problem with Puck Man, so it seems like I’m missing something.

Check if the gamelist.xml fragment which lists Pac-Man points to the right pacman.zip file and check if the user running EmulationStation can read the file. Also check if you don't have 2 gamelist.xml files - EmulationStation will prioritize the one found in the system folder over the one in $HOME/.emulationstation/gamelists/arcade.

@mitu thanks for the reply and great suggestions I hadn't considered!

As it turns out, I was mistaken. The pacman.zip file was not in my roms folder. I won't get into the details since this is a sensitive topic (regarding legal gray areas and fair use arguments) but suffice to say, way back ~20 years when I started this hobby, I had to hunt for the original zip file and I never included it in my archive of the internet archive 0.256 rom set.

Still don't understand why it's not part of the merged roms internet archive.
