-

You mean putting it in the toaster oven AND the dishwasher? ;)
-
@obsidianspider No Ill have something a bit easier to follow =] .
-
@obsidianspider Well I figured it out and now everything works as it should. I had one wire not in the right place..... go figure. Also I kept going to the wrong spot to edit my controls and at times I had 2 buttons programmed to the same output. Needless to say it was a lot simpler than I was making it. Learned a lot about counting pins and second guessing what I just counted before I soldered it up. Glad its all done and behind me. =]
-
@thedudester80 good news man! Now there is less in the box, you can fit it all in an even smaller tin! ;-)
-
@moosepr Well my next project might not be smaller but maybe thinner. I have some ideas and if I can get the parts and time I think it will be a really cool project.
-
Glad to see you figured it out. Now that my Super Famicom project is nearing completion I'm trying to figure out what zero-based handheld to build. Your Altoids build has certainly given inspiration, and I'd love to see the inside of it.
-
@obsidianspider I'm not sure I took pictures of the guts lol. I'll crack it open later and get you some photos. Any questions you have about how it goes together just ask. =]
-
@thedudester80 I appreciate it. My SFC project taught me a lot, but I'm finding that a handheld is a whole other level of complication.
-
@obsidianspider It's really not too bad its just a lot more work. You can do it. I looked at these references to make my portables.
https://learn.adafruit.com/pocket-pigrrl/overview This helped with making a controller. The permaproto is awesome.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRP1Zx7B4b66ZwkB2Ov5pMw I learned a ton from Wermy. Really good tutorials and knowledge here.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3u4Stbc_FJ7t2KR9JEh9Aw This man is pure talent. He makes some of the most beautiful game devices using the pi. Probably my biggest inspiration with electronics. Really great ideas here.
-
@thedudester80 Thanks for the encouragement as well as the links. I'd seen wermy's stuff, and I was aware of the PiGRRLs, but Love Hultén's stuff is new to me and is absolutely gorgeous.
-
@obsidianspider He makes really great stuff. Glad you liked them. I just took photos of the inside and will upload them when I get home after work tonight.
-
@obsidianspider The inside.... If you have questions let me know. Im not the best photographer and I know its a mess in there lol.
-
@thedudester80 thanks!
-
@thedudester80 I bet thats one of those projects that you built up slowly wire by wire, and now you step back you just think 'woah thats a lot of wires!'
You have inspired me to go minimal and small for my next project ;)
-
@moosepr I wish you the best of luck and can't wait to see what you come up with. All I can say is go slow and if things aren't going well just take a day off from it and come back. I had to convince myself I needed to take a break, and if I didn't do that my girlfriend would set me straight. Every good man needs a good woman or man depending on your preference just saying. =] If you need any help or have any questions you know Ill always be here to answer the best I can. Really excited to see what you make and if I get the funds and time I'm really excited to reveal my new project. ; ]

@obsidianspider I'm not running a tft I'm using a composite display.
What screen are you using?
-
@obsidianspider You have to mod it to run on 5v. But its a great size screen for small projects.
