      NOTE: duplicate topic deleted.

To answer your question - there's no repository with old binaries. If you downloaded the image from 2017 it should contain the emulators from that time, there's no need to download something again.

Are you sure you weren't using the standalone PS1 emulator instead of the libretro core ? Perhaps you changed some settings to speed up the libretro core, which are now not present in a default RetroPie image (old and/or new).

@cr45hmurphy said in Gpi Case Rpi Zerow Splashcreens problems in Retropie 4.8.9:

My system is up to date. Version of VLC is:

OK, the version is fine; I just have to test 320x240, the lowest working resolution I can generate now is 480p. Could be that vlc behaves differently at such lower resolution and instead of resizing, it just crops the image.

I want to add that I have narrowed down my issue. The sound stops working due to my spi display. interfering with it. I suppose this topic is no longer relevant to this forum.

@George-Spiggott In the comments section of the raspberry pi blog the link is referring to, Upton said that he will keep the Zero 2W at $15 for now unless it gets more expensive to make them. I need a few of them so I'll try to get them as soon as I see them available.

You'll need some additional setup or driver for the circuit inputs - is the Pi board connected via GPIO to the circuitboard ? What model is the handheld - maybe the vendor has instructions on how to configure the inputs on a bare RaspiOS installation.

@kalaazar11 honestly can't remember, I think in the GUI there was a full screen setting or something like that to hide the cursor

@dynamight picodrive has always been the default megadrive emulator for pi 1/0. pi1/0 versions of retropie don't really have any emulators/software related to other pi models installed by default. that's why there's different image downloads.

emulators can increase in accuracy and requirements, but the ancient versions used for pi1/0 shouldn't.

@sleve_mcdichael yep! I missed out that it actually is printed out on the board and it booted up when I powered on the wrong input i.e. power in on the USB-port. But there's no USB I/O on the power inlet port. Low-level-mistake, caused me some googling hahaha

      @dankcushions
Yeah, I checked the sites myself and had no issue. I don't see how it could be the connection on the Pi, though, since the wifi works for anything I do via the GUI - both the main Retropie interface and the setup interfaces. Scraping, updating, etc, all works until I go into the terminal. I'll probably have to seek help elsewhere as I suspect that's still outside of your ability to assist.

Thanks for the help, though. I at least now know some stuff to look at should other problems arise in the future.

If the sound card is compatible with Linux (should be), then all you need is disable the on-board sound card and it should be automatically used.
Some details, added over time by various RetroPie users, are in Sound docs.

@dankcushions arrrrgh. Thanks. Definite performance issues when rotating the whole system, and PiFBA is the only core that's giving me issues otherwise. Now I'm off to see if I can compile FBNeo with Cyclone and see how that runs. Thanks for your help!

@cedishappy said in Pi zero keeps freezing, please help troubleshoot:

Does this mean the rpi is not faulty?

Yes, if you don't get a crash it looks fine. You might want to try a manual install over the Raspbian image, make sure you disable the desktop auto-login first - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Manual-Installation/.

It's held together with hot glue. One of the thumbsticks is messed up. Those spacers between the controller and the screen are actually legos. The thing labeled VCE is an adapter allowing me to plug a pair of earbuds into the mini HDMI port.
