never mind. I'll figure it out myself, I really can't be bothered to try in explain what I'm trying to build into this layout design
Ok no problem, I was interested in where you were going with this but if it's a bother then best of luck to you.

sorry, if my response sounded rude, it wasn't my intention.

as you can all see i'm unto my old tricks with a very light & clean "layout"
i built this on my mac, but i've not yet tried it on the Pi, theres a few more lil bits id like to add.....@Finhead ok, maybe this will help explain a little better, where the snes logo is, i was wondering if there is code so as the user can choose what logo is displayed, is this a "marquee?" or somehow, the layout reads say maybe the rom folder in use as assigns the correct logo-marquee to the right system,
here i am using a wallpaper with the snes logoedit....
ok this will not work at this moment, as each layout will need the boxart re-set to scale correctly,
this needs to be looked into more... -
moved clock up to the lil space above attract mode logo
added List Size info to the bottom where the clock was,
thinking of adding play count just under the box art -
@InsecureSpike Coming along nicely!
-
very nice! i love clean minimalist layouts, would look lovely on my largescreen 4k sony KD ;P
but all my rpis mostly mostly putter around with tft screens ranging from 2.2" to a 7", and this won't work :(
any chance for a matching (in look and feel) smallscreen version as well?
ps; would be better have this in a AM Layouts thread y'think?
-
mmmm, ok, are you running AttractMode at the moment, on any of your pi's?
what layouts have you been using so far?? I'll gladly try n figure something outbtw, thank you
-
@InsecureSpike thanks man!
yes, I fell in love with AM and retrofitted it over all my older retropie'd Pis with it, with the latest 3B having AM just freshly compiled for it.
my A+ sports a 2.2", my B+ a 3.2", the 2B has a 5" and the newest 3B flaunts a 7" ;p
for small screens, the layout I found most attractive and useful is the one by Cools. I took his layout.nut as a basis to tweak into a custom one changing the font sizes and assets positioning. my head swims with fe.this and fe.that sometimes, squirrel is fun lol
the only disadvantage (and a major one) is that unless you have a tightly curated list and you know your games, you're gonna have a hard time wading through all the games. so a list view like what you're doing would be ideal.
if I may have a suggestion, it would be perfect for the small screen (and easily adaptable for the large) if a layout can have the following;
- full video snap background
- game name logo/wheel
- system logo
- scrolling list of titles
much like this video, except for where the game flyer is positioned, it would be a list of scrolling game titles instead.

ok, I'm very much still learning myself, so I maybe not the right person to take aboard the ideas you'd like. I got to this stage within one day of playing around
if more based upon my layout, I may have been able to help a little more, one thing I really hate and will probably will never use the wheel, as I've yet to come across a nearly full pack,
my themes/layouts are going to be very stripped back & simple, this one will have a weathered look I think.
and as I like s very uniformed look to my themes I'm making a layout for nearly every system like a theme for ES -
@InsecureSpike hhaha no worries mate. i had further thoughts and realized what I had in mind would be specifically for small screen use only, because AM/sfml would bog if the video bg snaps were big hd quality for big screens. and using sd quality vids would look horrendous. so this would be unfeasible for now.
just digging into it myself trying to patch together the scrolling list of titles onto my current layout. and yea I don't like the wheel of logos too, leave that for the hyperspin people.

New Version:
http://smartretro.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8277&p=86072nd May 2016 - v0.3
- Recompiled AM with new SFML so X is no longer needed (https://github.com/mickelson/sfml-pi)
- This means runcommand now works under Attract Mode
- Updated configs to no longer start X
- Updated Emulators to use runcommand (https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/runcommand)
-
wow! i'd sort of assumed it would always need X. that's great news!
-
oh, this is sweet!!
well done guys!!!!! -
guys, do any of you know about making layouts for AM?
I'm stuck and need a lil guidance
thanks -

Great job man!
All we need now is mehstation and where all set. Two new great frontend's.Remeh mentions Here that he is willing to support Retropie and that mehstation can compile and run without x11.
I was struggling to get controller input set on mehstation, and I think its saved in a db, so its harder to manually edit.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
