joystick selection missing from menu. cant get it back
-
@edmaul69 good you solved it. But I was a little confused with your first post...
The RetroPie-joystick-selection tool is not a part of the official RetroPie-Setup. I used the name RetroPie because it was made to work on RetroPie only, and maybe it can cause some confusion...
It's not part of runcommand either, so I'm curious about what you said: "in runcommand it says enabled. i disable and re-enabled and nothing".
If you enable the joystick selection by name method, then it'll use the
runcommand-onstart.sh
to do some tricks. Is it the disable/re-enable you did?And FYI, when you run the
install.sh
it creates a copy of the gamelist.xml in (assuming a traditional raspi install)/home/pi/RetroPie/retropiemenu/gamelist.xml
. And this file takes precedence over the others, as explained here.Cheers!

@meleu sorry i meant that enable disable. Yes it was in the gamelist.xml. Not sure why it didnt show up. I think the reinstall didnt work the first few times is i think i accidently logged into the pi as root instead of pi. Is there a reason that it wont recognize an icon? Ive changed all the rpi menu icons just fine but cant get that one to recognize one. Since my appleskin2 theme has a black background i just put the joystick select icon on the icon background .png and then any of the icons that werent big enough to cover it i just put a bigger black border around them.

@meleu i have added added a path to the icon for joystick selection but it wont load any pic i link it to. worked great for all the other menu list icons. so what i did was to put my joystick selection picture on my icon background image. then when all the other pics show up they cover up the joystick selection pic. i have a pi modded apple iie so these are for my "appleskin2" theme. the pics look tall and skinnny because they have to be put in a 2:3 ratio(2 pixels x 3 pixels) because for whatever unknown reason to me emulationstation squishes the pics. but when these are displayed, they are square. these are all my icons and my icon background pic:

@edmaul69 did you edit the retropiemenu gamelist.xml?
specifically in this part:
<game> <path>./joystick_selection.sh</path> <name>Joystick Selection</name> <desc>Select which joystick to use for RetroArch players 1-4 (global or system specific).</desc> <image>/path/to/your/customized/icon.png</image> </game>
-
@meleu yes. that is how i changed all the other icons. however it does not work for me for the joystick selection. i tried several different pics that i used for the others and nothing. is there a certain format it is supposed to be? all mine are done in .png which works for all the others
-
also just to show you:
<game> <path>./joystick_selection.sh</path> <name>Joystick Selection</name> <desc>Select which joystick to use for RetroArch players 1-4 (global or system specific).</desc> <image>/home/pi/appleicons/joyselect.png</image> </game>

@meleu its not a huge deal on this since i found a workaround but its nice to have things working correctly
-
@edmaul69 I change using the
<image>
. Don't know why it isn't working for you...
BTW: Where can I find your themes? -
@meleu i havent posted anything here. I am almost done with my appleskin2 theme but i dont know how to upload it to anywhere. And i cant use the only site that i successfully could post links to zip files because i had amazon refund my money because they charged me $14.99 instead of $.99. I made a theme based off of the simple thing but it is too much and gets a white screen after about 10 systems. My game related theme is a very huge undertaking and i went on a hiatus after spending countless hours on it. I will get back to it soon though. Too many projects i have been working on lately. And themes take a long time if you get really detailed if you are a pixel artist. Its takes time working a pixel at a time. I cut and paste as much as possible but its still a lot of work.
