Problem Using keyboard as NES controller

Because I don't have a USB NES controller, I have been using my keyboard instead. I set up on the d-pad to W, down on the d-pad to S, left on the d-pad to A, and right on the d-pad to D. For buttons, I've set select to the left Alt key, for start I've set it to the right Alt key, the A button has been set to L, and the B button has been set to K. All other buttons have not been set. Here is my problem, in the Legend of Zelda ROM, whenever I use the down key, it moves Link down, but it also makes him attack. Any idea why this might be happening?
