MetaPixel - A New Emulationstation Theme
-
Should be fixed now. I accidentally deleted a line in the theme.xml file.
-
@backstander: I'd never heard of the PC Engine before getting into RetroPie, so for that one I pretty much just googled "pcengine screenshot" or something similar and found the best looking images.
@CourierSS has been doing a fantastic job picking up from where my laziness left off. I originally just made folders for the systems I use/would potentially use in future, and just left it at that.

@mattrixk
Growing up I had the (PC Engine) TurboGrafx 16/CD & TurboExpress (handheld TG16) and one of my best friends had a SNES, Atari Lynx & and Apple IIc and our other friend had a Genesis, Sega CD, Sega 32X and a Windows 3.1 PC. We all 3 had a NES and 2 of us had Gameboys. I also had an Atari 5200. Every now and again we would stay over at one of our houses and just stay up all night playing video games lol.No one else I went to school with had a TG16 so I was always able to brag about it :-)

I've finally gotten through making various grammar/stylistic corrections and updating the color to almost every system folder. There should be a semblance of consistency in colors but I am not the best with colors, and there may be some systems, outside of those made by the same manufacturers, that have similar colors.
There are also two minor differences between the theme I uploaded and mattrixk's theme. I've added the scrolling sound from Rookervik's Carbon theme and modified the letter "a" in the PlayStation logo to match the original style. If you don't want either of those changes, then don't copy the metapixel.xml file in the base folder and use mattrixk's version, and replace the logo.png with logo_og.png (by renaming) in the psx folder.
If anyone sees any grammar/spelling mistakes in the system descriptions, please let me know so I can make changes. If the theme behaves strangely, I will see if I can figure out the issue.
Stating again, this is now matches the same amount of systems as Rookervik's Pixel Theme v1.92 and is compatible with Retropie 4.0.2. Descriptions are based mostly on Wikipedia. Screenshots of games that I added are mostly from MobyGames, a group of them are mine, and maybe a few from theGamesDB.

@CourierSS @Rookervik Made some new changes to pixel theme and added Sega Mega-Cd and a few others.
Would you mind updating your theme to reflect these changes?
-
@Rion Wow, you don't want much do you? Just, lots. -_- If you need metadata so bad as to bug someone to update their theme with my art, just use pixel with metadata. It's been added to the theme installer.
-
@Rookervik Sorry to come off as needy. Was never my intention.
Thank you for the tip. đ
-
@Rookervik Sorry if i have offended you in anyway. I have the utmost respect for you and what you have created.

Ah, so you were that guy. You wanna know what we did to that guy at our school? Do you? We were as nice as we possibly could be, in the hopes that we could play 'Splatterhouse'!

Haha, I actually still have my TG16 HuCard for Splatterhouse:
Not as cool looking as the PC Engine version:

I would seriously frame that one.

Been really busy lately so it'll be a while before I can do an update with the added systems in the Pixel theme.
-
@mattrixk and @CourierSS
Are you still up for MetaPixel updates?I'm wondering if we could get Stratagus added since we discovered exactly how to get it to work. I installed Pixel from the RetroPie ES Themes menu and it seams to have stratagus even though I can't find it on https://github.com/RetroPie/es-theme-pixel.
-
Still been busy so have only lately been getting around to it. The following have been added: BBC Micro, Channel F, Mega-CD, Oric, Stratagus, and SuperGrafx. This should being it up to parity with Pixel's 1.93.

@CourierSS Thank you these look great!

Just wanted to pop in and say that this is probably one of best looking themes I've seen for EmulationStation but there's just one minor flaw that I want to point out in case you didn't already know.
The accented e in Pokemon doesn't display properly it either skips the word making it Pokmon on RetroPie or puts a disgusting looking space there on desktop.
-
@mattrixk @CourierSS can I add video support to your theme to make it compatible with @fieldofcows fork and upload it here?
-
Mattrixk is the one who would get back to you on that one as he's the creator, but adding videos would be pretty nice.
-
I'm sure most theme creators will add video support once it is introduced into the main retropie fork of ES.
-
@Rookervik I believe that has already occurred.
