Can't get hotkey to work with GPIO arcade buttons
-
Hi
I'm hoping you might be able to help me out.
I have built a small arcade system using a raspberry pi 3 (pic attached) but I have no idea how to sort the programing side of it out.
My problem
My arcade controls work well and consist of 8 buttons incl start and select but I cant work out how to get the hot keys working (push start and select to exit game)Im running on the latest version of retropie and have retrogame working but I installed these as one from retrobuiltgames website.
You will need to explain this like your talking to a 90 year old as I have no idea.
steps to take would be greatCheers

Hello granpa! Are you enjoying your retirement?
:)
(this colon followed by closing parenthesis above means that I'm sympathetically smiling to you)The experienced RetroPie users love to share their knowledge with new users (the "new" here is unrelated to the user's age). Some of these experienced users like to write down their knowledge on what we call "wiki pages". A wiki page is a web page that allows collaborative modification of its content, so several experienced users can constantly improve the information contained on the page. Oh man, those guys are so kind! They gently spend their time writing those documents just because they love to share knowledge! There's no money involved (calm down sir! They are not commies! I think they like to share their knowledge for free because they got it for free from the Internet in the first place).
I'm sure you'll be amazed by all the knowledge you can get from the RetroPie wiki. And, guess what?! There's wiki page with the exactly information you need to achieve what you want. Please, click on the following link and you'll see the wiki page I'm talking about: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration

What software are you using to turn your GPIO button presses into key strokes?
