Amiga Diggers on pi3

Hello all just a quick question if i may
When starting diggers on the pi 3 i get to the language selection screen but i am unable to select a language
i have a joy pad in port one it does nothing
i have pressed all keyboard buttons nothing
pressed all mouse buttons nothing
its a real stumper and help would be appreciated -
You haven't provided any information as requested when registering and in bold at the top of the screen https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (don't even know which emulator you are using)

Not really sure what else i can look at
it gets to a language select screen but i have no method of selecting the language i want -
