Ports help
-
I saw the wiki post on ports and I want to play DOOM 1993 on my pi. But for me (not being so great in linux) did not understand it. does anyone know a good video or very basic article tutorial for how to run classic pc ports on the Raspberry pi?

It had been a while, is there even one out there?

@Cole_48 Are you looking to run a specific linux port of an old game, or you are looking to play DOS games directly on retropie?
-
I want to play the original doom for PC
-
@Cole_48 you have two options:
- use the libretro port prboom (installed by default and available in the Ports system of emulationstation) --> you'll have to copy over the wads from the commercial version (check the wiki --> https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Doom )
- Use dosbox and run your DOS doom directly --> https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/PC
-
for help setting up dosbox, check http://dosonthepi.blogspot.pt/2015/01/run-dos-games-in-retropie_15.html (ignore the fist two chapters, as dosbox comes already installed --> read from "Add DOS Games to RetroPie")

Thank you! Time to play some DOS!
-
@Cole_48 dos wont perform as well as the doom engine will.

Ok thank you
