Retropie won't boot after running ControlBlock service

Hi, I'm hopping someone can help. I've got Rey's 128GB attract mode up and running and now I'm trying to install the drivers etc for my petrockblog controlblock.
Everything works fine until run the final step 17 "sudo make installservice". After running this step retropie won't boot past the retropie splash screen and the pi powers off.
Does anyone know how I might diagnose this? I can't ssh into the Pi because it doesn't boot that far.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
