Pixel desktop environment

Hello, I have a question about the Pixel desktop environment. I installed it and it also works great. But how is it possible to install additional programs for the desktop? I know it so, that there is an extra menu point both you can add and remove programs. This is not to be found. Is it only a stripped down version of retropy? I have the 4.1 version installed.

You can intall a GUI package manage like synaptic also
sudo apt-get install synaptic -

It actually doesn't have anything to do with RetroPie. I think it's a new desktop environment for the Raspbian OS.
