PS1 Games freezing and crashing?

Probably it's a issue on PCSX-Rearmed. Are you using PCSX-Rearmed from Libretro core, or the standalone version?

@Solid-One libretro

Are you back @YoshiFan501? I thought you had been banned... Really; if you have to troll this forum then you are beyond help.

@YoshiFan501 post your bank account number, sort code, mother's maiden name and secret password here. Someone will be along to assist you momentarily. Your enquiry is very important, please hold...

hi all, a lot of work on pcsx-rearmed was made in the dynarec (dynamic recompiler) current of this year. Maybe a bug in this part of code. I don't have the knowledgement for the ARM part or the low level code (asm). Open a ticket in the github repository of the project.

@columboscoat @YoshiFan501 is not the nintendofan user - you are having a go at someone else :-)

I have not seen overheating with PSX.
Are you running Enhanced resolution? And if so, are you running the speed hack?
Are you running an overclock on the Pi3?Right now, I am just running an RPi Foundation case with the top popped off and with enhanced resolution/speed hack. I am also running a 1350MHz OC with 500MHz Core and GPU.
Now on Dreamcast and PSP I can get the Pi to overheat, so I Mcguyvered an old PC Power Supply fan I can set on top of the open case. It's loud as heck, but it'll keep the Pi at 50 C or less even under full load.

@mrbwa1 enhanced and speed.
no overclock
the latest update to the psx did fix it but now it just gives me the overheat so ill have to work on that.
-
@YoshiFan501 what kind of case are you using? It doesn't take too much airflow to keep temps down, but if the case is closed up tight, it could heat up quickly. When I ran into PSP overheating, I set up a desk fan pointed at the open top case and even that kept things under 60 C. It looked really silly, but in a pinch it worked.
You could disable enhanced resolution to help on the certain games causing overheating. Honestly, I have pretty much been playing Gran Turismo, GT2 and Colin Mcrae 2.0 on the PSX, I haven't done any extended testing on CTR, so perhaps I'm running lighter games, But I am also running a bit of an overclock (I tried 1400 and 1450MHz but they really heat up fast! Wasn't worth a tiny performance increase for the heat issues.)
-
@mrbwa1 I use the Media PI+ Case
-
@YoshiFan501 That's right I remember that from another thread.
I wonder if the other stuff in there is making things hotter. I would probably try and drill out a couple more airflow holes or look for a fan solution myself because I like to tinker with things.
-
thats what im thinking. cut the top of the case open

I sat down and played a couple PSX games today. CTR seemed to go okay, along with a short Gran Turismo stint. After about half a race in Colin McRae 2.0 though the Pi3 froze. So it looks like I am running hot with the enhanced resolution enabled.
Turned on my old PSU fan setup and everything was at 50 or under and no more freezing. I guess I wasn't testing PSX for long enough before when I thought it wasn't getting too hot.
