Sorry, I missread that. The actual rom folder for the Sega cd emulator right now shows a folder for Snatcher with everything I listed, a folder for sonic cd which is set up the same, and a single file named us_scd1-9210.bin that I forgot to remove during my first attempts to get things running at all.
-
Stabbing in the dark here but it's weird that your have .cue files with .iso files. That explains why you see the games twice. I thought it was usually .bin/.cue fils OR .iso files.
Do any of the games in that pack work with audio? Could it be that "working" means the game works but it was ripped wrong? I'll check my version of Snatcher when I get to work for you to see what mine looks like.
-
Also, what BIOS files are you using?
-
Try changing all the entries that read "WAVE" to "BINARY" in your .cue file. I had to do this with 'Castlevania: Rondo of Blood' for the TurboGrafx-CD to get the audio working. As I remember, it's an issue specific to RetroArch.
-
Actually now that you mention it that is a bit strange, I have seen Sega cd roms as generally one or the other. I just tried sonic and the actual sound effects work, just no music.
As for the bios file mine was originally named SegaCD Model 2 BIOS V2.00W (U) (Jun 1993).bin
Which I renamed as bios_CD_U.bin to get it working. I will try editing the cue and see if that works. -
It worked! Changing the cue to BINARY got it working. Thank you so much guys. Sega cd and primarily Snatcher were big reasons for me to venture into the world of pi.
Two titles for Snatcher still show up and loading either will load with music. If I have to have the iso and cue to make it work, is there any way to block one from showing up on the list? -
There are tools to convert between the two formats. I would convert it to a .bin and just updated your .cue file.
Glad you're almost there. Good luck!
-
You can also place a file named "platforms.cfg" at
/opt/retropie/configs/all/
and add the following line:segacd_exts=".cue"
Omitting .iso from the list will effectively tell Emulation Station to ignore all files with the .iso extension. However, any games you added in the future would need to be bin/cue or iso/cue for them to show up.

@mediamogul great tip! I'll have to check mine out for this error.
-
Thanks a lot for the info, I'm so excited to play these gems again.
-
'Snatcher' is an especially great game. I'm overdue for another playthough.
-
@mediamogul thanks for this info
-
Not a problem. :)
-
It's one of my all time favorites.
I discovered it by accident. Had never heard of it before. Back when I was a teen and funcoland still existed, they were liquidating their Sega cd stock dirt cheap. I picked up the model 2 cheap and a bunch of games for a dollar each, all complete. Snatcher and popful mail were in that pile. Best decision I ever made. Snatcher and Chrono trigger are two games I'd give just about anything to play again for the very first time, nothing like it.

Does this work with an MP3 cue sheet as well?
E.g.:
FILE "Sonic CD.iso" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Sonic CD 02.mp3" MP3
TRACK 02 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00
FILE "Sonic CD 03.mp3" MP3
TRACK 03 AUDIO
INDEX 01 00:00:00 -

I don't believe so. Here are some people discussing it on the libretro forums:

@mediamogul Sorry to come back to such an old topic but I'm having trouble getting this particular trick (putting platforms.cfg in configs/all) to work. I've put a text file with that name in that directory, with that line in it, but I'm still seeing two files for every game (one for the .iso, and one for the .cue). Am I missing a step?
-
What text editor did you use to create the file?
