@fieldofcows It's this issue fixed on latest retropie build?
if you manually scrape a game inside ES menu, it deletes your video and marquees tags in gamelist.xml.
The built-in scraper has several known issues, and I don't think @fieldofcows has touched it at all (but I might be wrong). The reason why the ES scraper deletes the new tags is because it doesn't know they are supposed to exist, since it's a newly added feature. It simply doesn't write them out.
However, I also don't think that the scraper is a high priority right now. Either he, or I, or someone will probably be implementing the improvements discussed in the metadata thread (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6985/metadata-improvements-in-emulationstation). Once that is implemented, no existing scraper will work, so either a new scraper will need to be written, or an existing scraper (i.e. @sselph or @screech 's) can be ported to work within ES.

@MWGemini That's not a priority for me, i was only asking by curiosity.
But I really would like if @fieldofcows submit a pull request for no-splashscreen, the code is already done and it works perfect, but it's in the old fork from fieldofcows, not in the latest retropie main fork.
Also I know that's not another priority... XD.

Thanks to all for your help finding images.

I went ahead and created a pull request for the no splash option based off the work done in @fieldofcows old fork.

@jdrassa Thank you very much!!!
-
@jdrassa Well, that saved me a job. Thank you!
-
Woaw, thanks a lot for all this great work :D
-
@Nismo this is just fantastic. I think the fact that you've built video preview into your theme from the ground up makes it unique and special. My favourite theme!
-
@fieldofcows Thank you very much for the words of encouragement but I could not have done it without your help, and your hard work.
I really appreciate so much all the hours of hard work and the enthusiasm you have put into this project.

sorry..
could someone tell me.. where i have to put :- boxart files
- snap video files
- wheel
- marquee
(i downloaed version 1.7b)
actually i have them under roms path..
i supposed... boxart to put in this path, but without results:
/configs/all/emulationstation/themes/oldroom 1080p/atari 2600
(example for atari 2600) with same name of rom.. but
i see in emulationstation only the rom list.. and a simple background.
thanks in advance -
@andrea_ita It depends on the path inside your gamelist.xml.
BTW wheel and marquee are the same thing, not different ones.
For example if you want the "videos" "marquees" and "image" folders inside your roms folder, each entry for each game inside gamelist.xml should look like this:
<game> <path>./Game.zip</path> <name>Gamename</name> <image>./images/Game.png</image> <video>./videos/Games.mp4</video> <marquee>./marquees/Game.png</marquee> </game>
- image is the same than boxart, you can change the name of the folder from "images" to "boxart" and replace images folder in gamelist.xml for boxart folder, but not necessary, you can only place boxart images inside "images" folder.
Example for changing the folder in gamelist:
<image>./boxart/Game.png</image>
- marquees and wheel art are the same thing, you can change the name of the folder from "marquees" to "wheels" and replace marquees folder in gamelist.xml for wheels folder, but not necessary, you can only place wheel images inside "marquees" folder.
Example for changing the folder in gamelist:
<marquee>./wheels/Game.png</marquee>
I hope it's clear enough.
If you want to wait a bit for boxart and so on, i'll open a new thread soon inside themes section to post the latest oldroom theme, as well i'll upload all the neccesary art, videos, wheels and boxart used in the theme, and in very optimized file size.
But it's very time consuming to update the theme at the same time I reencode video and images... just because my theme it's like to make a new theme from scratch for each system.

Regards.

correct... emulationstation.. sorry..
where is located the file gamelist.xml to modify?
or i have to input manually into file with the information?
is there a gamelist.xml file to modify? or i must change manually all the file? i hope to write well... sorry for my poor english. -
@andrea_ita I'm confused, are you using retropie for Rpi or Emulationstation for windows?
If you are using emulationstation for windows gamelist are inside .emulationstation/gamelist/(systemname)/.
The games are added to the gamelist automatically, but not the video and marquees tags, you need to add video and marquees tags manually for each game or use some scrapper or use the method I posted a few posts ago.

i use retropie 4.1 and emulationstation with raspberry pi3
i download and installed your theme v.1.7
i would like to know if there is a master file where i have to add your items above for auto scraping by emulationstation the gamelists into the "system rom path".. -
@andrea_ita I was editing my last post, read it again.
And take a look at this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6589/easy-way-to-add-video-and-marquees-tags-in-your-gamelist-for-video-support
-
@andrea_ita Ok i'll try to explain it better.
-
I suppose you have all your games already scraped, if not, do it.
-
Once scraped go to home/pi/.emulationstation/gamelist/nameofthesystemfolder/gamelist.xml.
-
Follow the method here to add the tags to your gamelist.xml: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/6589/easy-way-to-add-video-and-marquees-tags-in-your-gamelist-for-video-support or use some scraper with video and marquees tags support.
-
Don't forget to make a backup of your original gamelist.xml before replace it.
If you can't understand this I don't know how to explain better.
