Kodi audio
-
Hi all,
I have raspberry pi 3 hooked up to a laptop LCD via hdmi. Using the 3.5 jack to play audio for games via emulationstation (all ok) however, have kodi launching from the emulationstation ports menu and this doesn't give me any audio...
Any help very much appreciated!
Also - can Kodi show up on the emulationstation 'main strip' rather than under 'ports' ?
Thanks, Mark~~ -
@mark-totnes did you change the Kodi audio settings ? You will have to configure Kodi to output audio via the 3.5 jack.

For Putting Kodi into its own option instead of going into ports. You can follow this guide.
https://weekendengineer.wordpress.com/2014/09/11/adding-a-xbmc-tab-in-emulationstation/
It is what I used. Obviously, replace xbmc with kodi where it states xbmc on the guide. Otherwise, it will work no problem. Keep in mind, If you have retropie set to boot into Kodi it loads Kodi that is under the ports menu not the one you make a separate option for. (I have not figured out why. I am sure there is a very simple explanation) As far as the audio issue, you need to follow the other posters request and provide all appropriate info and state exactly what the problem is. -
@Sheldon25 That instructions are very old but Kodi is a program, it doesn't matter if you set RetroPie to autostart it at boot or if you choose it manully from the ES menu, it is the same.
The sound, I already explained that many times, the sound in Kodi is independant of the rest of the OS by design in the program, so if you want to output to something different from HDMI you have to go in Kodi > System > Settings > Audio output > Audio output device, and select what you want. -
Questions like this should be in KODI forum and not here... Well it shouldn't be anywhere because they are very well explained in Kodi wiki...
