      So, I need help figuring out whats going on here. I kinda discovered how to fix my input lag and resolution problems on retropie. About 10 minutes ago, I connected my elgato capture card to my retro pi. While booting up, the resolution and frame changed. I absolutely loved it. I had no input lag and everything was running 60fps. I tried to unplug my elgato and replicate what it did, but I failed. I went to my configs.txt file and changed the resolution to 1080p, but it didn't change it the exact same way the elgato did. When the elgato was plugged in, everything looked the way it should as if being played on an original console. Plus the 60fps. This was not the case when I changed the configs.txt file.

      When I ran the PI with the elgato - 60fps, unknown aspect ratio and resolution (My guess is 1080p and 16:15 when in game)

      Without the elgato - 30fps, and I believe a 16:9 aspect ratio

      Anybody have any idea what to do? Feel free to ask questions

        @nobiscis perhaps it is something in the elgato setup that changed? Pi video can be captured in other ways. Have a look at your elgato configs. Sometimes settings are auto changed, thinking it's helping you out and then cannot revert...

          @columboscoat
          It says 1080p 60fps

          Is there no way to make the Pi run at 60fps without an elgato? It runs at 60fps on my TV, but not my mini monitor without an elgato. I went through my monitor's settings and there is nothing I can change there to benefit me. There has to be some configuration changes I can make

            @nobiscis The Pi will run at 60fps. No problems. Is the elgato going through something else? This can cause slowdown. Are you using an HDMI splitter or any other type of switch?

              @nobiscis hook it up to the mini monitor (what is it btw?) And run tvservice -s in terminal.

                @columboscoat

                It might help if I add that my monitor is a makerfire 7in.

                The HDMI cord runs from the Pi to the Elgato, and then the Elgato has a second HDMI sticking out the rear and that goes to the monitor. This somehow makes everything run much smoother. 60fps and 1080p.

                    @nobiscis I cannot tell you what your specific issue is. Sorry. Have a read at this. Have a play around. Reboot after any change. https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/configuration/config-txt.md

                      @nobiscis does your monitor support 576p at 50 Hz?

                        @nobiscis A quick "google" tells me your monitor is probably 480p.
