I don't use a Mac but I sometimes service them at my work. I know that sometimes Mac's can be problematic trying to share files on a "Microsoft Network" and the RetroPie/Rasbian uses "Samba" which helps it to talk to the "Microsoft Network". I'd recommend you use an FTP client to transfer ROMs to your Raspberry Pi.

On Windows I really like FileZilla and they have a Mac version of their client. I haven't used the Mac version but the Windows version is great! Some of my Mac friends like Cyberduck but then again, I've never used it. (Cyberduck also has a Windows version now).

Here's some information about the error 36:
        https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9699/~/mac-error-code-36-when-transferring-files

It looks like it has something to do with those stupid "._" files that Macs leave everywhere like the plague. You gotta run "dot_clean" from the terminal on the Mac and give the network share address to RetroPie.

The 8058 error vaguely means that there's a file or folder that it is expecting to see but it doesn't see it. Probably those evil "._" hidden files!

            Here are the directions:
