Retropie boot to Mame4All gamelist
-
Trying to figure out how to have Retropie boot to Mame4all. I have crashed 2 sd cards trying to figure out on my own. Now I am frustrated....Can anyone help?
I would like to start the Pi3 (Retropie 3.7) and after the boot process (I don't mind the Emulation Station logo) go straight to Mame4All's gamelist.
Is it possible?
Thanks!

I don't think it can be done but I'm not 100% sure. Someone with more knowledge might need to verify that.

I believe EmulationStation initial display system is alphabetically based, so you can either remove all other systems that come before it, or possible rename it.
I removed Amiga and Apple from my system and have all my MAME roms in the Arcade folder, so that is the first one that shows when I boot.

I also comment out systems but I think what he's trying to achieve is to go directly to the detail view skipping the emulator selection screen altogether.

Yea, I don't think EmulationStation provides that functionality.

I keep getting that wrong. I need to work on that it can be done but it's currently not a feature as Herb would say. :)

Thanks guys for the response! I have put all emulators in an "unused" folder so when the Pi boots the only options in Emulations Station's menu is Mame and Retropie. I would like to boot straight to Mame's gamelist. I see you think it can't be done. After searching.....and searching the web I see people have PiPlay booting to Mame but nothing on Retropie.

Yeah it might be a feature someday like PiPlay. You can also modify /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg. For each system you want to comment out put a
<!--
before<system>
and<--
after</system>
. That will comment out that whole emulator from showing up in you list. Example below for the Apple II.<!-- <system> <name>apple2</name> <fullname>Apple II</fullname> <path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/apple2</path> <extension>.sh .SH</extension> <command>/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ apple2 %ROM%</command> <platform>apple2</platform> <theme>apple2</theme> </system> <--
