      @obsidianspider Yes i assumed that was a typo in the wiki - should have mentioned it earlier.

        @mediamogul I haven't tried, but as an owner of an O2 and all my old carts (my original system had died so i replaced it many years ago), I suppose it's worth an attempt. Since I'm still learning and exploring... I'm not sure if there's a similar "twin" in there for odyssey2, in the same way there's megadrive/genesis.

          It's a mistake in the wiki probably by me.

          you can override the name, extensions, platform (used by es for scraping), and the theme for any of the systems with this method.

            @BuZz Thanks, good to know. In the O2 case, based on the genesis/megadrive tweak, I suppose the change would be this?

            videopac_theme="odyssey2"
            videopac_platform="odyssey2"

            Is there a naming convention (odyssey2, odyssey_2, etc.) so a scraper would be looking for the desired box art, other files, etc?

              @ohmycommodore see ~/RetroPie-Setup/platforms.cfg for default values (where there is no _theme or _platform it uses the system name - eg snes/nes etc

                C'est swanky! Thanks to all involved.

                  I can not get this to work. I did exactly as the Wiki says and no luck. I even updated all installed packages and nothing. I have created the platforms.cfg file in /opt/retropie/configs/all and rebooted several times, nothing will change Videopac to Odyssey2 on the menu. Does anyone have any other suggestions.

                    @Trapr post your config (put it in a codeblock)

                    Do you have a file /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg ?

                      I do have the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg , but the file I am talking about is the mentioned on the wiki page https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/VideoPac-Odyssey-2. i have created the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/platforms.cfg

                      videopac_theme="odyssey2"
                      videopac_platform="odyssey2"

                      I was under the understanding that is wasn't good to edit the es_system.cfg as it would get changed with any updates. Is this not correct.

                        @Trapr if you have the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg then you should remove it - that file only exists if you have created it manually (eg to customise the systems). it overrides the retropie-setup managed one which is in /etc/emulationstation. It is not touched by retropie-setup so the platforms.cfg changes wont affect it.

                            Having started this thread I'll speak up again, because I don't think I managed to ever get the O2 change (though I did get the Genesis change just fine).

                            So there's technically two files in two different locations where this kind of thing can be changed, and the preferred location is in /etc/emulationstation, and in the other location mentioned, that cfg file can be safety removed / deleted?

                            I'll have to revisit this :)
