I've looked through the "keyboard" tag and couldn't find this problem, although I KNOW I've seen it before, and there was a fix that included updated the script or updating RetroPie packages in general. I've just did all this, and afterwards came across this problem.

I have a Vilros RPi3 kit if it matters, and I'm running Mupen64 Rice high-res emulator. I have a wireless keyboard, but it's not relying on anything but the USB dongle which is always instantly recognized as a keyboard upon boot. So no interal Pi bluetooth or wifi.

Upon exiting Mupen64, I pressed F4 on the keyboard to get to the command line, and then nothing. Why is it working in EmulationStation and not the command line? Should I select Exit Emulation station instead of pressing F4? Is it being recognized as a controller instead of a keyboard?

Edit: I know it's working because some keys will make the flashing underscore reset itself, but no characters show up.

I really don't want to pull the plug, I've had 2 power outages while my Pi was on and I'm not interested in getting a corrupt SD card haha.
