    Hi!

Sorry, I searched for this problem and even found some threads, but I think there are either different problems/solutions or I do not get it right.

I updated the RetroPie-Setup an all installed packages a week or so ago. after that I was on Setup 4.1.11 (now I am on 4.1.12)

after that update, which run fine (I think so!) I could not use the up/down on my stick in RetroPie menu. So I connected a keyboard to reach the Input onfig in RetroPie. After reconfig the Input everything was good in RetroPie menu.

When I start an Emu (RetroArch) there is still no up/down. So I press "Select + X" to get into Retroarch menu to reconfigure User 1 Binds where on up and down there is +3 and -3 - when I enter the stick it is +1 and -1 for up and down.

So far so good. Now I turn on save on exit and want to save current config. But this is not working.

I get an error: "Failed to save \opt\retropie\retroarch.cfg" <----- perhaps not exactly, i remember it right now :P

so, when i close the emu and start it again up and down is +3 and -3 again and auto save on exit is off.

I reinstalled Retroarch from source (as said in another thread) and updated RetroPie Setup again. that is 10 minutes ago.

The Threads I found (https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/1686/up-down-y-axis-not-working-in-3-8 , https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/2793 , https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/issues/1383) had quite similar Problems, but in Version 3.7 to 3.8 - and those where fixed, I think.

So perhaps someone can help me? :D Please :P

Sound similar to zero delay controller issue. You might try update the latest kernel:

        sudo apt-get install rpi-update

        sudo rpi-update

          i did this now. it updated from 4.4.38 to 4.4.45 (i think ;) )
          but no effekt.

still got the up/down issue and when i change this in retroarch, I cant save this configuration.

shouldn't emulationstation automatically create a working config (RetroPad) for RetroArch, when I do the config in RetroPies Input dialog?

          so there are 3 issues:

          1. why was up/down wrong in RetroPie after the update? (ok, not that important since I could fix this easily ;) )
          2. why can't I save a config in RetroArch?
          3. shouldn't ES create the right config for RetroArch without any further action?
