Terminate Called after throwing an instance
-
Running a Pi3, with 4.1.11, no overclock.
I am scrolling through my game list and ES terminates and goes to the command line (with no viable input btw), and it says:
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'char const*'
I have localized it to this entry in my NES section, but I don't see any really bad characters in my <desc>:
<path>./Muppet Adventure - Chaos at the Carnival (USA).nes</path> <name>Muppet Adventure: "Chaos at the Carnival"</name> <desc>Yipes! The awful, evil Dr. Grump has pignapped the lovely Miss Piggy and taken her to his secret carnival hideout! Now Kermit and the whole crazy Muppet crew need your help! Jump! Leap! Hop! And charge into action! But watch out! Dr. Grump's Carnival of Clamorous Confusion is a rollicking roller coaster of thrills, spills, and chills! Join Kermit as he faces the fearsome challenge of the Raging River Ride. Help Fozzie lick the Amazing Ice Cream Maze. (But beware of those Canine Carnival Barkers!) Blast off with Gonzo on the Lost in Space Ride. Then let Animal drive you crazy on the incredible Crash Car Course. And if you dare, enter the ultimate challenge the Cave of the Grumpasaurus! Only your quick wrist, sharp wit - and some help from Kermit and the gang - can defeat Dr. Grump and rescue the still-lovely Miss Piggy! It's Muppet mayhem! You'll want to play again and again!</desc> <image>/home/pi/.emulationstation/downloaded_images/nes/Muppet Adventure - Chaos at the Carnival (USA)-image.jpg</image> <releasedate>19901101T000000</releasedate> <developer>Minds Eye</developer> <publisher>Hi-Tech</publisher> <genre>Action</genre> <video>./snap/Muppet Adventure - Chaos at the Carnival (USA).mp4</video> <marquee>./marquee/Muppet Adventure - Chaos at the Carnival (USA).png</marquee>
I have had a few different errors similar to this on other games as well, but I managed to fix them some how. Not really sure what I'm looking for though to fix it.

Makes me laugh that nobody on this forum has even posted a reply I also have this issue when going through games list or even playing the game it can crash like this

It makes me laugh when animals wear people clothes... because they're not people, you see.
You two should post a bit more information about your setups. A commonality may present itself.
Edit: For comparison, my entry for that game is:

@Dominus I can't say anyone else has experienced this in a way that they can help. My best guess is to surgically delete the content of each of the attributes (I.e. delete the content from the description, for instance) and try again. If it doesn't work, restore it and then delete the following, until you find out what it is.
That could give us a hint of what we're looking for in the code. As it is, though, it's like a needle in a haystack.
I'd venture a guess around the quotes in the file name. Gut feeling, nothing more than that - so, as usual, more than likely I'm wrong. :)

I had this problem too...
for me it was the marquee file that was bad (Muppet Adventure - Chaos at the Carnival (USA).png)...Not the entry in the gamelist.
Here is the replacement I made...
