Re: PSX Roms - Best way to organize

I used the forum above to help me in unzipping, then un-.7z'ing, then un-.ecm'ing all three FF7 discs and combining them into a single .pbp file. (Fun fact: its over 1.5GB all combined, assuming I did it right) However now I also have the 3 .cue files for each disc still. Will I need to copy over all 3 to the retropie, even with just one .pbp? I'm guessing yes. Also, is there a way to combine the 3 .cue files?

@petran1420 Ready-made EBOOT.PBP files are readily available from the usual sources.

Why do you even bother to make a PBP file? The PSX emu does a great job handling multi disk games. You can swap games easily from the RGUI menu.

@PetroRie There are plenty of good reasons, best of which is saving an average of over 30% storage space from the compression. Get more games on your system that way. Some of my games I saved over 60% space on. I think FF8 is around 25% saved, same for FF7. I've got a 128GB SD packed to the brim.

Yeah saves space but increases loading times. But still you made a good point, I'm using a 64GB SD card and I only have 7GB free. Its goes very fast if you're into PSX gaming.

I don't really mind the slightly longer load times, worth it IMO.

@cloud1494 agree. I have all 1300 us games. 500gb-ish worth of .pbp files. Too much if i used individual bin files. Also i dont use rgui to swap discs. I modified all my controllers config files to use disc next, disc prev and open close disc. Not sure how you do it with bin files but i had no luck swapping discs this way (i probably need to know the correct way to set up multiple discs) but works great for me with .pbp files.

@cloud1494 If I remember correctly FF8 does not work well in PBP format because it has more than 2 GB of size. I had to use bin an cues and use a .m3u file to open the game from retropie so I can change disc as usual

LOL. I think I've seen that torrent longtime ago, never expected to meet someone on this board who download the entire torrent.

To change swap the .BIN files you need to use the RGUI menu. It never failed for me. It even worked for me with Fear Effect while I couldn't change the disk on the .pbp file via my PSP. It could be a bug in Retroach.

@PetroRie i wish i found that torrent. My retarded self downloaded them all individually. And the site i went to makes you scroll to find game, new page opens, scroll past adds, click on link, scroll down past ads. Click on download. And it only let me download 1 sometimes 2 files at a time. I spent about 15 hours a day downloading for like a week. It sucked.
