No, I've just been putting the GDI and all the files directly into the /roms/dreamcast folder. Should I be making a directory?

Edit: Just tried to copy the files for one game into a folder and run from there. No luck.

Have you tried to just convert your collection of GDI games to CHD?

          Hi all,

hope its ok to resurrect this thread as i too am having the same problem as the original poster and it was already here

. I have 500 or so .gdi and corresponding .bins i have copied 1 game set at a time for testing, it appears in the menu listing, select it, starts to load, goes back to ES.

i downloaded a random namco game in .cdi format, fires up no problem what so ever.

i downloaded gdi2cdi from Family guy, in fact a couple of versions but cant get that to run, says error in syntax (plus we all know that CD-DA inst support with this conversion utility i was just desperate)

Do you have any tips for getting .gdi to work ? The wiki says .gdi is supported, and i know my files work on the PC so they are good images. ( you say above to convert to .chd) but hard drive images arent on the list of supported formats.

          Thanks

@a7mag3ddon did you update retropie-setup and reinstall reicast from binary after that?

if you can name a couple that you think should work in GDI format then please let me know and ill go and test but i tried the popular games, crazy taxi, sega rally, sonic, etc.

@BuZz any ideas on this one please? Wiki says supported.

Edit : Just found the compatibility list, and i might have just picked a few duff games, although i would have expected to have at least fired up even if unplayable. i shall report back.

@a7mag3ddon I've had success with Mortal Kombat Gold and Alone in the Dark in gdi form. I more recently switched to CDI just to have everything in the root directory and not sub folders (or just tons of loose files). Those games worked fine in both forms.

What does the runcommand log say? Have you tried launching it in verbose mode to see if there's any more info on the log?

I had an idea about this.

When I was searching for Dreamcast BIOS files for Reicast, I found the typical US set, Europe set and Japan set but I also ran across a hacked "All Regions" set that I think means it is region free. That's the one I'm using now.

In other words, try a different BIOS set.

Also check the compatibility list from the wiki page:

I updated the wiki with md5sum & CRC32 for the various BIOS files that I have found. I'm not sure if all of them work (haven't tested them all).
