Can intellivision to run a Bios Rom
-
This is probably a stupid question.
I know that intellivision uses Bios roms, but that isn't my problem I want to know if the intellivision can run a bios rom as a game, like all the other game roms,
for instance these files
Sears Super Video Arcade BIOS (1978) (Sears) [!].int
Entertainment Computer System EXEC-BASIC (1978) (Mattel) [!].intis there anyway to run those as a game rom and have them display on the screen for the intellivision I already have a emulator Nostalgia that works very well but I can't run these on it.
The reason I'm asking is I am trying to run them so I can take screen shots of what they actually do. I've heard of using config files and I tried using all the generic ones that are available.
for the Basic rom 4-6-7-8 .cfg files worked but on screen it just displayed a blank screen. None the .cfg files would work for the bios rom. Please help..

@Droid the only thing you can do with the sears bios is if you renamed the sears bios "exec.bin" and replaced the one in /opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/rom/ (back up the old one first) and you can see all the differences in the boot screens from the original. Some game that had long names are messed up on the title screen. But you mention using a pc emulator so you would put the bios wherever that emulator looks for it with it named as exec.bin (.int files are the same as .bin so you can change it. When they are named .int for the games dont look for a .cue file. )

I hadn't thought of that but that works for the bios, Thank you..
But Does anyone know how that Entertainment Computer System EXEC-BASIC rom works or does it just show a blank screen.

@Droid if you are on a pc in the settings if you turn on the ecs setting it will boot the ecs rom. It has a main boot screen and a 3 section selection screen. If you are on the pi if you open up
/opt/retropie/configs/intellivision/emulators.cfg if you add this line:jzintvecs="/opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/bin/jzintv -v1 -s1 --kbdhackfile=/opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/hackfile.cfg -f1 -q %ROM%"
then you can turn the ecs on which is needed for ecs games. just change the emulator for ecs games to jzintv2
@buzz any thoughts on adding this line to the intellivision emulators.cfg? the ecs games are unuseable without it. but you dont want the ecs system to boot on every single game. you do need to the ecs.bin bios with the exec.bin. -v1 is for the ivoice.bin. it should always be turned on all jzintv games. it has no compatibility issues but has a ton of games that use it. (only 4 original, a few protos but a ton of homebrews) if you dont have the ivoice.bin it just wont play intellivoice

Awesome I did not realize it was the ecs.bin and I didn't have that file in the right place to use it. I still had to have the correct cfg file and a separate rom file but can run basic now.
The emulator I'm using nostalgia has an option for only if the game requires ecs.bin but unless it is set to always it doesn't work.

@Droid you should go to intellivision.us and get jzintv with the gui. No command line with the added gui. Far better compatibility. I only use nostalgia when i am comparing crc's for rom versions.
