Intellivision/experimental packages - need help installing
-
I'm new to Retropie so please bear with me. I am using the USB thumb drive method to copy over roms for the time being. So I started with the basic official 4.1 Retropie. I configured my basic xbox one controller to get things started. Then I put in a USB thumb drive as instructed on the Retropie site. After removing it, I see a list of folders on the USB thumb drive, ready to copy over ROMs. Specifically:
BIOS
configs
romsIn the roms folder I have 30 rom folders by deafult for various systems. However, several smaller systems like Intellivision, ColecoVision and Videopac/Odyssey 2 for example are not listed, so I'm assuming they are not currently installed. I see a video guide on YouTube to set up ColecoVision, which is great, except his guide is based on Retropie 3.7. He shows going into RetroPie setup>experimental packages. However, in my RetroPie 4.1 installation, I don't have the "experimental packages" option under RetroPie setup. His versions shows the listing for CoolCV for ColecoVision and he just selects it to download and install.
Has that been changed for 4.1? Is it under a different menu? Any help would be appreciated.

@groviar go into manage packages. They might not be in experimental packages anymore. For coleco, i prefer coolcv as the emulator. Jzintv is the intellivision emulator. You need to get the bios files for jzintv and put them in a folder called roms in /opt/retropie/emulators/jzintv/ . Then you need to give those files 0777 permissions otherwise jzint wont boot. Do not give the jzinv file in the bin folder otherwise jzintv wont boot.

Big thank you! Yeah, they were no longer in the experimental packages. I found them in the optional packages. Thanks for the tips with the BIOS.
How do I give those files 0777 permissions? Sorry for the questions but I'm new to Retropie and just learning.

@groviar how are you connecting to the pi with a pc? If you are using a program like winscp if you right click on the file and click on proprties then in there you change them from probably 0644 to 0777

Currently I'm just using the USB thumb drive method to transfer roms. I do have winscp installed and I'm connected via ethernet cable to my network. I just haven't tried connecting to the Retropie yet with winscp. I'll see if I can manage to connect okay and I'll give it a try.

@edmaul69 I am connectimg directly to my rasp3 with my pc. Do i still need winscp.
