Controller used: Xbox OneSo I just learned this week how to connect to my Retropie using Filezilla (I'm using ethernet). Yesterday I connected for the first time following a guide another member posted for me, and it connected immediately and I was transferring files. This morning I'm trying again using the same exact connection settings, but I'm getting a connection error:
Network error: Permission Denied
Could not connect to serverWhat could be causing this?
Same thing with Putty - "Network error - permission denied".

Check here

Can you try to do what he did and access the command prompt by going to your ES and push F4 on the keyboard.
Then typesudo dhclient eth0
-
OK, just did that and it says:
RTNETLINK answers: File exists.
-
Sorry but I am all out of ideas in this matter. I never had such issues.
@backstander had also network issues once, check hereMaybe a quick search in the forum (type network error in the search box) might give you more useful info?
-
OK, well how do I exit out of the terminal in Retropie so I can shut it down?
I'll reboot my PC and gigabit switch and see if it corrects itself. Could the password somehow have changed? I guess that wouldn't make sense.
EDIT: typed in "sudo halt" and it shut down. I'll reboot everything and see what happens.

Type
sudo shutdown -h now
or type emulationstation to get back to the ES and from there the usual.

@groviar Your IP address has probably changed. Check the Pi's IP and reconnect. If you haven't set a static IP for the Pi your router will re-assign a new one every week or so.
-
That would be correct for Filezilla but he cannot connect with Putty either. Putty doesn't need an IP to connect just a connection via cable or WiFi would suffice. Right?
I told him the same thing like you did, in another thread before, until I realized that he mentioned Putty having trouble too. -
Yeah, I had already checked my IP address and it hasn't changed.
I did manage to connect though. I rebooted my PC, router, and gigabit switch and somewhere in there everything corrected itself. So I'm all set now, thanks!
