Retro zip files
-
As you can see other people in the group are having the same issue. Why don't you try downloading it and doing it yourself so you can see.
Unless there is another place to get the files from.

@moe_diggity81 and yes I know how to read and follow directions
I have tried to open the file with WinZip,winRaR, and 7zip.
All it does is create a duplicate file. There is no image to extract.
When I write the whole zip file as an image nothing happens. It won't let me open to get the image out.
I've seen countless videos on how to and nothing. Either that file is bad or compressed wrong.
As you can see in both pictures I provided others see having the same issue.

@moe_diggity81 I have just downloaded the zip and extracted the image without any issues. The
.img.gz
file is 580MB compressed. When I extract it using WinRAR the.img
file is 1.93GB. Everything is as it should be. Listen, I'm not being rude but you are clearly doing something wrong. If you explain what you are doing then maybe someone can spot where you are going wrong and help. The first thing to do is get the file ONLY from https://retropie.org.uk/download/ -
@AlexMurphy I know you are not being rude. My apologies it's just frustrating.
The link has a video of what's going on.
-
@AlexMurphy and that's where I got the file from.
-
@moe_diggity81 in the video you are creating an archive - not unpacking.
Looks like the file was already unpacked - it's just showing as a zip file type because your zip application has the
.img
extension associated with it. It's not an archive.this is clearer if you switch your system to show file extensions etc.
-
@moe_diggity81 that or save yourself the touble of unpacking and just write the image with etcher
-
@BuZz how do I do that. Sorry I'm not Infront of my pc
-
@herb_fargus well I also tried just writing the files instead of unpacking and nothing.
-
@moe_diggity81 you have to use etcher if you want to write a gz file
