Hey guys. I wanted to know if it's possible to download a pre-made attract mode image and run it on a Linux PC?

[removed references to youtube channel that now promotes piracy]

@monty819 if you mean premade with ROMs. No.

There is an option in the setup script to install attract mode but it's on you to set your themes, add games etc.

@herb_fargus just looking at images with the video snippets, artwork, etc. I already have plenty of roms but obviously I won't get ps2 working on my pi 3.

Mostly I'm just confused on the difference between the pi version of retropie and the x86 install?

There are premade images for Attract Mode for Linux but none of them would have the emulators you're looking for. You're better off using those emus separate from Retropie.

@monty819 there isn't a difference other than a few different packages supports due to the differences in platforms eg ps2 GameCube etc.

So pray tell, how is one to know which games one has if they just add all the images and snaps for all games if you only have a few? Seems like a lot of wasted space on stuff that isn't used. Would be easier just to scrape data for your own games. Follow a few guides and it's simple enough to configure. I'm sure eventually we may include some attract mode themes with our installer but probably won't be anytime soon

@herb_fargus the scraper only grabs metadata and box art, not wheel art or video snaps, correct? Thanks again for the quick replies you guys are the best.
