I will be sending my brother in law/nephews a set up retropie and I'm not sure if they have a keyboard. But they do have a wired ps3 gamepad.

Is there any way that I can ensure that when they receive it, they will have an option to configure their control pad for use. I assume that that is the only means of control they will have for the device - and i have set it up that one pad will be enough for one player to have good control.

As it stands with my setup (Retropie 3.7), if I start the device with no controllers or keyboard connected, it just starts as normal on the console selection screen - this wouldn't allow a new pad to be configured. If I start with an unconfigured pad connected it also doesn't offer to configure the pad.

The only way I have been able to configure anything since imaging my sd card is by accessing the configure input with a control device that is already known by the system.

Does anyone know any way to get retropie to offer configuration of input device when nothing is connected or how to manually tell it to go to configure input upon next start?

      Thanks for any help,

      Matt.
