@FlyingTomahawk that famicom looks great to me. How much is that sharp famicom?
-
You mean that twim famicom? The junk one is 5400 yen a working one would probably be around 15000 yen?
I should get another famicom in 1-2 days. Also declared as junk. I'll take pics of it and then we could start to talk about your controllers and console shipping and payment. Is that cool?
-
@FlyingTomahawk $130 for a Twin Famicom does not seem bad.
-
@FlyingTomahawk junk prices seem pretty good. The junk controllers sold by some huge japanese ebay resellers are really high.
-
@lilbud
True, but shipping is gonna be a killer for that huge, heavy thing. -
@lilbud i agree.
-
Ouch, prices really went up. I bought my sfc with 2 controllers for around $32us from a japanese ebay seller around 2yrs ago. Too bad I can't find a cheap pal snes, or just the front label. I really love that logo.
-
Those are store prices. I am sure you can still find good deals on ebay or auctions here in Japan.
-
and then I see stuff like a gray Gameboy Pocket with a case that isn't beat to hell and it's $60.
They don't reproduce the gray Gameboy Pocket shells or the Arctic (white) Gameboy Advance shells. When I realized I was going to try to graft in an ABXY into my Advance project I gave up on trying to find a white Gameboy Advance for cheap, and I'm going to try to painting my project when I get that far.
The Famicom Pocket that was made by Kei Studio has me thinking I'll be able to do something with the texture to match it. The site is all in Japanese, but click through the build. It's inspiring.

I'll keep my eyes open for those.
-
@FlyingTomahawk You can find the white GBAs over here, but the gray Gameboy Pocket (original DMG colors) were a Japan exclusive thing. I'm not even sure what I'd do with one if I got it (keep it stock, backlight it, Pi it) but I've kept my eyes out on eBay for them and the only ones I see are either beat to heck or more than I want to spend, especially if I'm going to potentially mess with it. I really am more interested in a good case then working guts.
I'm trolling eBay looking for more game stuff. You're a bad influence.

Hehehe...then I have fulfilled my mission. ;-)

I haven't bought anything yet, but I'm certainly thinking about things to acquire.
-
@FlyingTomahawk if you stumble across a super gameboy controller for a super famicom i am interested in that. The cable condition does not matter as i will modify it for my pi setup. I think those and the famicom controllers are the only controllers i am missing except for maybe the different sg-1000 / sega mark controllers
-
Roger that.
-
Got my second Famicom today.
It is lot more yellow-ish than my first one.
It's also missing the little front cover (D-pin plug)I will try to bleach both Famicom covers and see if I can get them back to their original white-ish color.
If I should succeed, would this 2nd Famicom do for you? If you want I can post more pics later.
-
@FlyingTomahawk yeah that is acceptable for me.
-
Great, just give me a few days to try to bleach it and maybe bring it back to its former glory or at least close to it.
Regarding the price, I don't intend to earn by it so I would charge the same price I paid for it.
That would be $10 plus shipping for the console + the 2 controllers of my console. So you end up with total 4 controllers plus console.
The $10 will be donated to the RetroPie guys, so a win win situation. You get what you want and you help out this project here.
Does that sound good to you?
I'll check the shipping cost again tonight so that I can give you a accurate estimate. -
@FlyingTomahawk that sounds awesome to me.
-
Taken apart and ready for the bleach bath tomorrow.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
