I'm curious, how do you charge your PS3/PS4 controllers that you use with your pi?

I've been charging 2 PS3 controllers on the pi 3b and dont seem to have any problems, but I've read somewhere that it isn't recommended to use the pi itself for charging as it might cause problems with the pi not getting enough power (dont have the source at hand right now ). Thoughts anyone?

i have a stand they i charge my ps3 controllers on. it fits two controllers plus has 2 usb ports on the side and just use a micro usb cable for my other controllers. you could also use a phone charger block and the micro usb cord

@goodpi31 i use the pi 3. Most normal pc's cant charge them. Sony's tablets, pc's and playstations can charge them fine. I havent had any issues with it. You need to configure your controller with the cable plugged in if you want to use it plugged in as well as bluetooth mode.

@goodpi31 I use a small portable USB battery pack to charge while playing, as PS4 controller battery life is horrible.

It should be fine charging them both via the Pi as long you dont see a yellow square in the upper right corner.

                  Thanks everyone for your comments.

I've been charging the ps3 controllers with the pi for about two months now and have had no problems playing games while simultaneously recharging controllers. So I think it's fine to charge and play :D

@goodpi31 that's good to know. I charge them off my PC, but it's in a different room. I might move them to the pi.

I have been doing that since the beginning. They will work fine, I dont understand why people will charge them separately. I never turn my Pie off, and I do leave the controller connected.

I do the exact same thing and have yet to have an issue.

Although now I'm upgraded to a Pi3 so not sure if Ill still use the USB or Bluetooth connection. But Ill still plug it in overnight to charge.
