Hey team! I'm fairly new to the Raspberry Pi and Retro Pie. However I have gotten my setup to run everything but PS1 PBP files.
      System:
      Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
Running RetroPie 4.1.18 (all packages updated)
Installed Bluez to get my PS3 wireless controller clone to work
Running RetroPie and all roms on a Lexar 128gb flash drive

Everything works except PBP files. I've got the right Bios, when I open the PBP the screen goes black and then back to the main menu (rom selection). I've read everything on I can find on it and it all revolves around reverting to Bin/Cue files. But PBP files are supported, and smaller so I'd rather use those.

@rescu2000 are you generating them yourself? They should certainly work. I read something about the options from Psx2pbp that may affect it, namely write TOC or something.

Have you tried a different BIOS, alternatively? And you confirm that the emulator launched the games well before they were in pbp format?

@rescu2000 What is the name of the bios you have? Is it named in uppercase and in the bios folder?

Thanks for the replies. I've only tried them in PBP format. The Bios is called PSC - SCPH101.BIN (all uppercase)

I'm assuming based on your comment it has to do with the settings when converted. I'll check on that.
