Emulation station on laptop

Guys I have a raspberry pi3 setup which I love but I saw you can get more out of using a pc. What are the minimum requirements to get emulation station/retro arch to work on a pc/laptop. I have an old laptop that is a quad core processor and was hoping it would be enough. I saw some people running GameCube and stuff on it now. Please help

You can install e.g. batocera (OK, runs Recalbox) on an usb stick an let your laptop boot from the stick. There are plenty of HowTo's on YouTube.
This way you are not touching anything of the existing OS on your laptop (if still needed) and you can get a first impression how your laptop is performing . I do boot Batocera on my laptop from USB-Stick as well.

You may also give Lakka a try (boots also from USB-Stick or SD-Card:

Cool I will try this out guys would love to build a much better system but need to come up with more money haha. Hopefully someday will let you know how this works. Any other suggestions you have let me know
