What games are you playing this week? 2017-03-20
-
But on Xbox they are bugged anyway.
Seams like in some open world game that I try to 100% I end up with like 1 side mission that doesn't work so I never can get 100%! I remember this has happened to me in Far Cry 2, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and also in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap on the GBA!
Now I have to wait 10 more hours to get Mass Effect Andromeda and I hope it's not another disappointment like every other game I was hyped for. Well, time to take a nap so that I can play all night long.
Let us know what you think of it!
I'm doing the same but on the PS4 with a friend of mine, trying to unlock all the Trophies/Achievements. This game is pretty easy if you want to unlock everything on 100%.
I'm taking my time with the game and trying to get most of the side missions and collectibles before doing most of the main missions. I'm playing through the main missions with a friend but he's been working 10+ hours a day lately. I think I have 32% of the main missions completed, 50% of the collectibles and almost 70% of the map discovered.

After beating The Legend if Zelda Link's Awakening DX, I decided to give Oracle of Ages a try. So that's been my game of the week. While the rest if the world is playing Breath of the Wind...

@backstander
The sad thing about side missions in Ghost Recon Wildlands is that they become almost useless quite fast. You only need a few of them to unlock the max skills. The only side missions I suggest you should do, are the ones where you have to get into the buildings and deactivate the signals. Because that's where I found one of the last missing documents. And of course all the Material-Stealing quests.
But yeah, I've spend like 2 days to get all side missions done after I finished the main quests. At least it tells you if you have enough files to get the second (lame) ending. -

If you would play only the main missions you would beat the game very fast, the main missions are pretty short in my opinion. I have killed almost the half of all the bosses and I can go after Sueno if I want, but I want to get everything before I beat the game.
In order to get all the upgrades you'll need a lot of resources, the best way to get them is to do the side missions especially attacking and securing the convoys. The best way to get these missions is offline, your AI team mates are very good (often extremely stupid lol). I also found out that the explosive drone makes these missions extremely easy. You need to go into hiding and ambush them with the drone, attack the vehicle you need to secure, if you hit them with the drone the convoy will stop and look for you. Wait for the drone to cooldown and tag them so you'll get no surprises.
I'm already on rank 30, and I have killed the half of all the bosses. In every province I have been I got all the collectibles and weapon parts. The only thing I hate about this game are the bugs, sometimes I cannot use my binoculair or drone. On the PS4 there is also an annoying driving bug, some say it has something to do with the controller. Whenever you drive the car is extremely slow. Thank god I always can request a helicopter lol.
If you're doing the antenna side missions, you really need to use the heli if you do them by car it's almost impossible to reach the second antenna on time.
If you need need to steal a heli or a plane, you can use the flare gun to distract the enemies. The flare gun made these missions extremely easy.
For the Defend Radio side missions, these ones will become very easy if you place mines on the roads near the transmitter. Also request a group of rebels fighters which will join you. It makes them extremely easy.
For the "Pull!" achievement/trophy you need to take down a heli with a mortar, you can get this one very easy in the side missions in which you need to steal the heli. Just target the heli with the mortar, let your buddy shoot on someone, once the captain gets in the heli and starts the engine, push the button to use the mortar.
An another cool thing to do is to try to do all the missions without getting spotted, in my opinion this really adds something to the experience. The game would be more challenging if they had achievements/trophies for each mission you completed without getting spotted.
I really wish they added the following:
- A clock and the option to "rest" until it's dark or morning, some missions are easier in the night.
- Ability to drag bodies, its annoying when you kill someone and later on the mission they discover the body.
- Ability to command the rebels like your own teammates, sometimes the rebels will just stand at the wrong place and do nothing, sometimes they will start to shoot at the enemy right when they spot him, this can be annoying when you want to do anything stealthy.
This game really reminds me of Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain.

@EctoOne
I'm also trying to max out my skills tree so I will tag the convoy trucks or "borrow" those resource helicopters and planes to give to the rebels because it will give you 2500 to 5000 of that resource. You need a lot of resources to unlock the higher skills. -

TBH I like the gameplay way more then in MGS. While I know that MGS has a big Story part, it was kinda killing the flow when you had to fly back to base every so often. On the other hand I didn't really liked it that you can get the weapons/attachments in GRW so easily.
Also it is way easier to use the EMP drone to capture trucks. Just destroy the support cars with grenades/grenade launcher after they stopped. That method has the chance to give you more resources, because the more damage the truck takes the lower the reward. Although idk if it's an problem on PC/Playstation, but for me it was frustrating because the Drohne was sometimes unavailable due to bugs.

Most of those weapons in GRW you'll never going to use them at all. Thanks for the tip I'll try it with the EMP and see how it works out. If you damage the truck you'll still get the same amount of resources, you'll get the half if you destroy the truck. The bug you mentioned is also in the PS4 version of the game.

@PetroRie
Thanks for the strategies. I've been wondering how I was going to get the "Pull!" achievement lol. That's a great idea!I haven't even used the flare gun ones but maybe I should give it a try and I like the idea of using the explosive drone on the vehicles protecting the convoy trucks!

I'm playing the PC version but sometimes after playing awhile, I won't be able to my drone or be able to tag a bad guy or use my binoculars. Then after a while those will start working again.
I haven't came across the slow driving issues on the PC version but sometimes playing co-op, our games get out of sync and I'll have a suppressor on but on my friend's game it is off and when I take it off it will be on in his game or in my game I'm in the car with him but in his game I am running beside the car flipping all over the place haha.

I agree and I love sneaking around in this game but I also enjoy battling a bunch of enemies with the rebels help.
I really wish they added the following:
Yes...I also agree with your list!
This game really reminds me of Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain
I haven't played Phantom Pain but now I might need to pick it up! I think this game reminds me of Far Cry 2/3/4 but with co-op support!
I also have seen that bug you mentioned!
-
I've also noticed another bug in GRW. It is hard to explain but I'm play with an Xbox One controller on my PC but since I'm on a PC, I have access to my keyboard and mouse so when I need that perfect shot with my sniper riffle, I'll grab my mouse and if I'm crouched and I use my mouse to fire, I will stand up. This ends up causing me to get spotted easier lol!
I also have random bugs where I can't exit the vehicle I'm in using my XboxOne controller (instead I'll just keep switching seats) so I have to use the E key on the keyboard to exit. Or I can't fast travel using my XboxOne controller and instead I'll have to use right click on my mouse.

@PetroRie
Weird, it was half the amount when the truck took a certain amount of damage. Whatever.
Also another method for the Pull Achievement, there is one story mission where someone comes in by Heli very slow (in fact he was stuck in mid air when I did the mission regular). I replayed that mission for the cheevo because I already had stolen every supply heli at that point. :)
I tried it with my second character that I had to make for the buggy Shotgun achievement, but with the small radius of the mortar I wasn't able to hit, and I wasn't into the mood to just level up my rebels for that.
Anyway, time for Mass Effect, woo-hoo. See Ya in a week or so unless it sucks. :D -
Mass Effect? Ooh.
I remember one of my friends telling me about the game, but I've never played it myself.
Is it for the Xbox 360? -
@itsnitro the first 3 games are. It's one of my favorite series.
-
Nice! Still hanging with an Xbox 360. Hope to sell it one day.
Speaking of Xbox, is there a way for the pi to run games like Mass Effect? Or can it only be done on a PC? -
@itsnitro Have you seen the hardware specs of the Raspberry Pi 3 lol. It's not powerful enough.
-
@itsnitro
If you're into space, action rpgs, you should really give it a try. The option to import your character through all 3 games is such a great feature. I wish more games would do that instead of just releasing plain sequels. Kinda sad that it is not possible to import the save into the new game, even though they mentioned that way back then. Still, I played the game for 8 hours straight now and it's amazing. Took me 4 1/2 hours just to get access to the galaxy map. It's so freaking big and beautiful, and I really like the soundtrack.
There are two things I have problems with tho. First: The character editor sucks, especially for male characters. I prefer to play as females because I find it more badass when they shoot things. But here you can make your twin as well and I accidentally made mine look like one of the crew. It was confusing in the beginning.
Second: Speaking of crew members, Mass Effect is all about relationships and stuff. And sadly so far I don't like anyone in my crew compared to the old games. -
ahh mass effect...i love that game the 3rd one got some shit off people for the ending but to be honest i wasnt that bothered by it still loved everyone of them speaking of which the new one is out i think
-
@blackshadow
True, the extended ending DLC cleared some things but it wasn't necessary I find. Still gotta love BioWare for doing it and even for free. Probably my favorite Company when it comes to game development, they listen to the people and react rather quickly. -
I picked this little retro beauty up on the local Gumtree:
The bargain price (£25 GBP is roughly $32 USD) was because it was 'broken' but I reckoned these things are built like tanks so might be fixable and worth a punt. Turns out 'broken' meant Windows XP was corrupted and the guy didn't know how to use the recovery discs.
So this week I have mainly been installing and playing the excellent early Westwood Command and Conquer games - which still play really well today (on old hardware at least).
-
@GtBFilms Ahh. I still have my old Red Alert CDs and StarCraft too. I should see if my old laptop still boots up to try to play them.
