I remember one of my friends telling me about the game, but I've never played it myself.
Is it for the Xbox 360?

Speaking of Xbox, is there a way for the pi to run games like Mass Effect? Or can it only be done on a PC?

If you're into space, action rpgs, you should really give it a try. The option to import your character through all 3 games is such a great feature. I wish more games would do that instead of just releasing plain sequels. Kinda sad that it is not possible to import the save into the new game, even though they mentioned that way back then. Still, I played the game for 8 hours straight now and it's amazing. Took me 4 1/2 hours just to get access to the galaxy map. It's so freaking big and beautiful, and I really like the soundtrack.
There are two things I have problems with tho. First: The character editor sucks, especially for male characters. I prefer to play as females because I find it more badass when they shoot things. But here you can make your twin as well and I accidentally made mine look like one of the crew. It was confusing in the beginning.
Second: Speaking of crew members, Mass Effect is all about relationships and stuff. And sadly so far I don't like anyone in my crew compared to the old games.

ahh mass effect...i love that game the 3rd one got some shit off people for the ending but to be honest i wasnt that bothered by it still loved everyone of them speaking of which the new one is out i think

True, the extended ending DLC cleared some things but it wasn't necessary I find. Still gotta love BioWare for doing it and even for free. Probably my favorite Company when it comes to game development, they listen to the people and react rather quickly.

I picked this little retro beauty up on the local Gumtree:

The bargain price (£25 GBP is roughly $32 USD) was because it was 'broken' but I reckoned these things are built like tanks so might be fixable and worth a punt. Turns out 'broken' meant Windows XP was corrupted and the guy didn't know how to use the recovery discs.

So this week I have mainly been installing and playing the excellent early Westwood Command and Conquer games - which still play really well today (on old hardware at least).

@GtBFilms Ahh. I still have my old Red Alert CDs and StarCraft too. I should see if my old laptop still boots up to try to play them.

@obsidianspider two years ago I got a nostalgia session with WarCraft 2. The good thing is that there's a free version of this game (available here: http://en.war2.ru) and it runs pretty fine on my Linux with wine/playonlinux.
And their server is still active. :-)

Also I think WarCraft II might work in Dosbox but I've never tried it.

There was a 4.64GB update to Wildlands yesterday. I played it for a bit last night and it felt like it was running smoother on my PC. I only played for about 45min but I didn't have any of those bugs except I'm still having the standing-up-after-shooting-my-sniper-riffle-with-my-mouse-button-when-I'm-crouched disease.

Yeah I've seen the patch notes when I went to bed after playing for 13 hours (and I'm not even done with the first real planet) and I didn't see anything about the drohne/binoculars bug (which is the one that annoyed me the most). But sin I'm pretty much done with the game, I don't care. Also, I'm pretty happy that I didn't spend the extra 40€ for the gold edition, because the DLC descriptions didn't seem that interesting to me. Maybe I'll get them some day when they are on sale.

That's usually what I do with most games. I'm actually still waiting for a good price for the Fallout 3 DLCs before I pick those up.
